All this talk of getting the new models is making me interested in getting one too. My NP8690 just turned 1 year old today. laugh.gif

I took a look at Malibal's offer. They are cheap but once you factor into the shipping costs ($330.83), the price sky rockets to RM 7.2k. The config I chose was the NP8150-S1 because once I added the 485M, the price became Xotic's price of the NP8150 ($2054).

Hope to get an email reply from the other resellers.

Anyone know how much does the Mucro "Microsoft Office | only with OS: Microsoft Office Starter 2010" cost? Does it mean that it is not charged if we don't choose an OS or does the total price reflect the software regardless of the option we chose for the OS?

How much do you guys think I can sell off my NP8690 for right now? LPC-Digital gave me a great quote on the NP8150-S1 and I'm thinking of taking the plunge. XD The warranty for this laptop is actually 2 years now that I've checked again. :| I thought it was only one year. rclxm9.gif So yeah.... Tell me what you guys think.

Core i7 720QM
4GB RAM
320GB 7200RPM HDD (WD Scorpio Black)
ATi MR5870HD
Intel 5300 WiFi Link

I still have the old Nvidia 280M GTX as a back-up GPU, incase the HD5870 dies. So I'd probably sell that along with the laptop.

I sold mine for RM3.1K. But I had the 820QM but the GTX 280m. Maybe yours will be a bit more because of the ATi 5870m.

RM 3.1k? That's too cheap. I was expecting at least 3.5 ~ 3.8k. Ahh well... I'd just have to try my luck with the people here and at ebay. XD

NP8130 (2630QM/2720QM + GTX 460M) = NP8690 (920/940XM + HD 5870M) in terms of performance. Sure the Sandy Bridge CPUs are faster but the bottle neck of that model comes from the GPU. The NP8130 can't support the XM model of the new SB while the NP8690 can still be upgraded to the XM model of its generation.

I think if I try and sell for around 3.5k ~ 3.8k, it should still pass because I have an extra GPU that goes with the package (GTX 280M). I still haven't decided on whether or not to sell this baby. Still thinking and gathering all the input I can.

I'm not sure if either mucro or cube.asia give that option to upgrade. Gona check it out than.

Thanks for the replies.

Its there. The option that says "500G 7200RPM w/4G SSD". An extra RM 223 but worth every cent. Google the reviews. biggrin.gif

Noted I might get the Killer NC. Browsing the net for resellers that gives best price (mucro.asia, cubehub.asia and I might go for XoticPc).

Added on March 3, 2011, 2:13 pmThis will probably be my final customization for the NP8130 tell me if there is room for improvements. (Upgrades are in  Bold)

If you're gonna go with a SSD as a primary drive, get a larger drive as a secondary. No point putting the Momentus XT. You won't see much of a boost in performance with that setup. Go for the 750GB 7200RPM @ 500GB 7200 RPM option. smile.gif

Currently contemplating on getting a NP8150-S1 from Mucro but confused about the regional warranty thing. What's the main purpose. :confuse:

Price wise.... The S1 is cheaper on average by RM 200 than the normal one. Cheapest config for the S1 w/485M is 6.4k w/o the regional warranty. Too bad that doesn't include shipping. If it did... I'd be all over it but then again the regional warranty thing still bothers me.

Another reseller quoted RM6.5k including shipping for a similar S1 config and that's including shipping. Sadly they're in the US.

@soundsyst64:

That means that without it, we'd have to claim the warranty straight from Sager? As in ship directly to US?

for express shipping, you can add RM 262 (mucro) or USD $130 (cubehub)

warranty - that's what i have thought. hmm.gif but it's based on my assumption. you can e-mail them for accurate answer
*
That would bring the total cost to about RM 6.6k for Mucro and RM 6.7k for CubeHub provided both give same price for the same configuration. Still RM 100 @ RM 200 more expensive than the one quoted by the US reseller. Trying to save as much as I can. lol...

$2025 for similar config on the NP8150-S1 from cubehub's website. Hmmmmm.... This is starting to get interesting. XD If the discount is real then I might just go for it. Will wait for a reply from CubeHub after I sent an email asking for a quote.

guys i heard the battery life only lasts for around 1 hour max when gaming and 2 to 3 hours max when not gaming?

According to http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Euroco...0M.49198.0.html and other reviews that has been done, what you heard is correct. That's better than the previous models where the battery lasted less than an hour. :|

im in dilemma in sager np8130 and asus n53sn..damn ! lol

The NP8130 wins hands down. Especially since it has the GTX 460M. tongue.gif 2 ~ 3 hours for non-gaming with such a powerful config is quite impressive really.

Uhhhh.... What's there to be confused about? You want gaming performance, go with the NP8130. The Asus can't give you the same performance since it uses a GT 550M which is ranked lower than the GTX 460M. @_@ What exactly do you want. laugh.gif

if NP8130 upgradable to HD6970, the price would be about RM 6K++ biggrin.gif
*
LOL! I'd say that it'll be around 5.5k max. The HD 5870M cost me RM 1.4k to upgrade from the GTX 280M. I'd guess it'll be around the same price as well and its not possible that it'll be way more expensive than the 485M. @_@

Added on March 18, 2011, 8:24 pmguys , before i proceed , is sager a really good brand?

i have google about sager and alot of them said sager sucks in the aftersale service , not in malaysia thou and said  they`re made from cheap stuff and so on = = omg! lol
*
The laptops are made to last as long as you take care of them. Read http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clev...ers-lounge.html to see what the owners say. Unless you mess around with the hardware in your laptops, I doubt you'll have much problems with them. I caused my HD 5870M to malfunction at one point and the whole laptop couldn't start. I just emailed Mucro and they contacted Sager on my behalf. Sager told them to have me send the GPU back while they send me a new one. I explained what I did to cause such an issue on the laptop and they didn't seem to care. laugh.gif There was another owner of the NP8690.... He messed with the thermal pads by replacing them and they melted into the GPU or something like that (I can't really remember, check the NBR forum for more info) and they just told him to send back the GPU. So yeah... Tell me if these examples don't really show that their aftersales service is not good.

May I ask where you read such claims from?

Edit: I think I've found out where you heard the claims from. I'd have to agree with it then but like I mentioned above, it all works out. Just go through your reseller (Mucro/CubeHub/whoever).

http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clev...ying-sager.html laugh.gif Based on that thread, the resellers are way better than Sager themselves. Just give it a read through.

im worry about local stock..we dont have any local stock..adapter...battery..zz...

Erm.... ordering from Mucro @ Cubehub(I guess), would give you the proper adapter for our wall sockets. Battery? What are you worried about? @_@ Seriously, once you go with these babies, you'd never look at other laptops again. I may sound biased but its true. Those who have problems are just unlucky. I guess about 90% of those who own Sagers don't have a single problem with their unit unless its self inflicted, like what I did. :\

laugh.gif Just get a cheap laptop to help you get through Uni first. Grad and work. Then get a Sager. By then they would be way more powerful than they are now and the batteries would last longer I guess. Save the money for rainy days. Getting the laptop last year was a serious distraction.

Can still adjust your laptop to fit the cooler. Just that it'll be a bit wider on the sides. The most important thing is to get the vents covered by the cooler.
