NP8130 (2630QM/2720QM + GTX 460M) = NP8690 (920/940XM + HD 5870M) in terms of performance. Sure the Sandy Bridge CPUs are faster but the bottle neck of that model comes from the GPU. The NP8130 can't support the XM model of the new SB while the NP8690 can still be upgraded to the XM model of its generation.
Well getting the NP8130 is not a problem then as long as you are not planning to get the XM model correct me if I am wrong.

I think just 2720QM would do.

Anywayz I am going to get myself an NP8130

++ more hdd than cooler la or get momentus XT

I think that 500gb is more than enough for me and I prefer my laptop to be really cool.

Added on March 2, 2011, 8:11 pmPlus when I saw the review on xoticpc on NP8130 and NP8150 and saw the difference between a Matte screen and Glossy I just knew that going Matte is a clear win =)

I will second on the Momentus XT. It is a 500GB with an inbuilt 4GB SSD, and I'm pretty sure you will get a LOT of performance boost in comparison with the 7200RPM drive you chose.
*
I'm not sure if either mucro or cube.asia give that option to upgrade. Gona check it out than.

Thanks for the replies.

Its there. The option that says "500G 7200RPM w/4G SSD". An extra RM 223 but worth every cent. Google the reviews. biggrin.gif

Yea I see it thanks for the replies =)

Can't wait for the new shipments to arrive!

I just noticed Sager now giving upgrades to Killer Network cards. Are they a good investment for my NP8130?

If you don't need bluetooth, and want a larger range for your wireless...then you should opt for that one. The Killer network card is pretty much like a wireless gaming network card; stable but would not be as fast as the Intel 6300 Ultimate cards.
*
Noted I might get the Killer NC. Browsing the net for resellers that gives best price (mucro.asia, cubehub.asia and I might go for XoticPc).

If you're gonna go with a SSD as a primary drive, get a larger drive as a secondary. No point putting the Momentus XT. You won't see much of a boost in performance with that setup. Go for the 750GB 7200RPM @ 500GB 7200 RPM option. smile.gif

Noted thanks for the reply =)

Added on March 5, 2011, 12:44 pmAlrite guys I just pre-finalized my NP8130 customization this is what I came up with.

-------------------
USD 1544 from cubehub.asia not including shipping charges. (#Option 1)

Display:15.6" Full HD LED-Backlit Display with Matte Finished Surface (1920 x 1080)
Zero Dead Pixel Insurance:None
Video & Graphics Card:Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M GPU with 1.5GB GDDR5 Video Memory
CPU Processor:2nd Generation Intel® Core? i7-2720QM Processor ( 6MB L3 Cache 2.20GHz) (add 160)
Thermal Compound:Stock Standard Thermal Compound
Operating System:No Operating System
Memory:8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 2 X 4GB
Primary Hard Disk Drive:80GB Intel SATA2 Solid State Disk Drive (add 150)
Optical Drive :8X DVD±R/RW/4X DL Super-Multi Drive
Additional Hard Drive in Optical Drive Bay :320GB (7200rpm) HDD plus Caddy Case (add 75)
Wireless Network Card:Internal 802.11 B G N Wireless LAN Bluetooth Combo Module
Primary Battery:Smart Li-ION Battery Pack
TV-Tuner:None
Microsoft Office:New! Microsoft Office Starter 2010 - Included in Price
Additional Power Adapters:None
Additional Battery Pack:None
Additional Optical Drives:None
Warranty:Sager 1 Year Limited Parts and Labor Warranty (Both Shipment Cost by User)
Rush Service (This is not the Shipping & Handling Charge!):None

USD 1547 from XoticPc not including shipping charges (might go for them due to them having better warranty and reputation) (same spec's as above) (#Option 2)

---------------------

I decided to do away with the IC Diamond thermal compound trading that over for a intel 25xm SSD for performance over cooling and probably get a zalman lappy cooler. Also I do not think that Bigfoot's Killer Network card will make any significant difference (correct me if I am wrong). Overall what do you pros think of my selection? Room for improvements or upgrades you think I can throw away for and replace another?

And which reseller should I get it from taking everything into condition (Price, Before/After Sales Service, Reputation) Option #1 or Option#2? And since Sager has yet to recover from the SB flaw maybe I am missing some other sites out there or local resellers here on lowyat I could probably get my lappy from. Suggestions anyone?

And please excuse me for being indecisive just investing so much on a laptop want to get the best bang for my buck.

I prefer Sager over any other fancy laptop with superb artistic design like Alienware of Asus G Series and since the brand is unknown to most local malaysians everyone will probably ignore it like its a piece of crap not worth stealing.

Hey guys just pre-finalized my customization of a NP8130. Let me know what you guys think.

And is adding the SSD really that important?

And to let you guys know that I will run more than 15+ Applications at once and browsers/games etc.

So let me know what needs improvement or what I can throw out for better upgrades.

how about choose low rpm but more storage for hdd in optical drive bay
*
Low rpm? I think you mean dump the SSD and get more HDD space yeah I prob will go for that.

Maybe get a better processor or upgrade to a NP 8150 and forgetting about SSD

QUOTE(soundsyst64 @ Mar 8 2011, 03:44 PM)
^it depends on your usage. if you want to open heavy program in short time, use SSD.

Or you can remove SSD from primary hard drive and buy SSD from LYN seller (if you prefer other brands like Corsair)

Just to let you know, once you pick Caddy case, you won't get internal optical drive because 320GB will be installed in Optical Drive slot.
*
Just worried about tempering with the new laptop. No confidence in installing the SSD myself. I read up about the SSD anthology from Anandtech that SSD performance will significantly drop after a period of time and prob needs a secure format and have to lookout for the best firmwares for that random write. But I still do not quite understand.

The applications that I am mostly going to open are maplestory,SC2,Mozzila firefox. I just am not sure whether my current customization is good enough running so many games at the same time plus I will leave my laptop on for long periods of time (and I mean very long if possible 24/7)

So let me know what you guys think or can suggest.

Because the SSD space is only 80gb?

And I just add that 7200 Rpm as an extra Hard Disk so I can store stuff,

And put my most used games/application into the SSD?

Oh now I understand because they only give upgrade to 7200 rpm no 5400 rpm.

Well, this is what I am doing anyway.

OS + most used applications in SSD, rest in HDD.

You lost the ability of a DVD drive however if you have that configuration.
*
Hey lamp =)

Yep that is probably what I will be going for. Since I rarely burn cd/dvd's or read them. I'll probably get a HDD for that optical drive slot and than get a external one locally.

And what do you think of my current laptops customization before I begin my order?

I think in order for you to enjoy that 3% discount is pay them with anything besides credit card. Cheque, money order, Bank wire transfer.

And do note that they will only accept the amount in USD.

Its written somewhere on their site.

But if you want go to the garage sale>notebooks and pda section and look for people selling sager lappy's I believe there is only 2 local resellers but warranty they bear the charges.

Correct any of the above info if I am wrong.

Please read the fine print before deciding on your next laptop. Since a lot of people are getting confused on what is offered. We will also offer the same type of price for those who are willing to pay for parts shipping DURING warranty periods. This means that any parts costs that you have, you will need to pay for:
shipping to Singapore
shipping to USA
shipping from USA
shipping to you

This will save us a lot of money without having to include that in the price for you. Past customers have always not need to pay for this and we absorbed it during warranty periods. We will also do the same type of process for these kinds of customers. You have the option in your product page now. These options are highly NOT recommended because we normally cover you for most internal costs. Its almost like not having warranty. Local service centre will also not be used for these type of customers.
*
If you have done so earlier I wont have to bother looking at Cubehub.

So if we buy from you including your regional warranty. Can we drop off our laptops to your Malaysia Based service center for warranty/service?

Quote me the best price for NP8130 with your warranty and shipping and with the below specs:
