QUOTE(DPBaker2 @ Mar 6 2011, 01:37 PM)
My VOIP light on the BTU is on, but it is red. Pretty sure it used to be green when everything was working. Not sure what red means.

I also tried changing the LAN port on the BTU going to the DIR-615, but no matter which port I use, still no luck. I rebooted the BTU between changes & see that the Internet light flashes on 2 times while (presumably) the DIR-615 interrogates it, but then it stays off until the next time the DIR-615 tries.

And I will definitely be asking for a rebate - already got rebates 3 times with previous Streamyx problems. Will also make a complaint to MCMC when I find the correct URL.

I got a phone call this afternoon saying 2 technicians would be there in 15 minutes and they were - not sure if it was my email to the Malay Mail or the TM CEO but they seemed anxious to get it sorted out.

When they came in I pointed them to the modem and noticed the VOIP light had gone from red to green! Damn it - and I had left the LAN cable in port 4 of the BTU so as soon as they plugged it back into LAN1 it started working! They told me they hadn't done anything in the condo basement and didn't know of anyone doing any work at the exchange, but definitely the VOIP light was still red when I went to bed last night. I am guessing I will never find the real cause of the problem.

In any case, they upgraded the firmware on the BTU and then tried to do the same on the DIR-615 but found that they couldn't get into it even after a reset. So, they swapped it with a new DIR-615 with new firmware & I am now up & running again.

And I got a phone call about an hour later saying that the billing department would call me soon to arrange a rebate for me - no need for me to apply for it.

I am still pissed off that I have to escalate problems & make a fuss in order to get them fixed and still think that 8 days to fix the problem is a disgrace.

You all to busy for wireless improvements while im busy to disconnect the wireless 101% LOL. Yesterday got a call from my neighbor he said he still able to access my unifi. Really give up on this matter. I simply shut the modem and router the whole night yesterday just because of that incident. Bummer. How the hell he can get/crack my wireless after I shut everything down. Really puzzle me here huhuhu

I sometimes do not use WPA/WPA2 key for my wifi... instead at all time my wifi setup will require MAC address in order to connect...

most of the time i use both WPA/WPA2 key + MAC Address ... it is troublesome a bit but at least provide double security..

and in case anyone here is wondering what the heck is MAC Address please follow the link...

how to read your MAC Address?

CODE
Run --> cmd --> ipconfig /all

Read the following

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX

Copy the address xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx (or sometimes in xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx format) into your wireless access list...

you have to do the same for all devices connected to your wifi...

You got to show me how to escalate the problems already.

As i opt to cancel my existing fix line+streamyx during unifi application, they still charge me for the old fix line + streamyx even i am using the unifi for almost 1 month already. Call the hotline and they response that it's normal and they will keep on charging me as long as the old line+streamyx is active. Ohhh no... can you imagine!? paying for something that you are not using.... rclxub.gif what happen to the consumer right in Malaysia !!!
Suggestion for those existing streamyX user who is considering to upgrade to UNIFI..... CANCEL YOUR EXISTING LINE FIRST before upgrading!!!Only GOD knows how long they take to cancel your old line(keep on charging you)!!! cry.gif

i learnt from my experience that speed test tool is not an accurate measurement for your broadband speed... biggrin.gif

it is just a tool to make u happy/unhappy with your current subscription...

the only true benchmarking is by downloading files from various sites...

Mbps (megabit per sec)/8 -> MB/s (megabyte per sec)

I haven't been able to connect to UniFi today. The 'Auth' and 'Link' likes aren't blinking. Anyone else faced this problem before?

LOL... it's kind of weird that you're providing registration services but you're unsure of what to do.

If I'm not mistaken there's almost no difference (in terms of cost) for upgrading or registering for a new line. You're not going to use your house phone line anyway. A new fibre optic cable will be pulled from the telecomm box outside of your house.
