Dear all,
I m planning to get unifi vip5 installed. I m staying landed property double storey. Question:
1. TM says they will install decoder, modem wireless router, deck phone, TV decoder. How is the quality of their wireless modem router? 2. Can i use back my existing Belkin wireless modem router bcoz i afraid their modem wireless router is not as good? 3. After they install unifi, how can i change the unifi password? 4. After they install unifi, how can i change the wireless (WIFI password) such as WEP etc.... ? 5. I have a desktop computer, if i want my desktop computer to connect to the unifi thru wifi instead of using the LAN cable, what do i need to buy? Is it the usb wifi dongle?
6. The equipments they install, still belongs to them right? So if got problem, they will come to my house and fix it??
Advise plssss

Hi bro,
Intend to get VIP5 for my landed double storey house.
After tm install unifi in my house, what is the recommended things i should do to ensure the connections are all GOOD? Is it to change to a better router? Anything else i should do?
I just wanna make sure what ever i can do or upgrade is done, including upgrade the equipment they provided.
Pls help a noob in unifi.
To avoid massive wiring internal my house, i was thinking of putting all the equipments at my back store room, and connect my PC and Notebook using wifi. The distance is about 15meter, dunno got problem or not?

Anyone here using Alcatel Lucent I-240G-P ? TM install this instead of huawei today.
My default equipment are so far so good. My notebook using wifi had been running for 5hours without disconnecting or any problems. Hope this last forever.
If everything runs smoothly, that would be great.

1. If during thunderstorm and lightning, do we need to off power to BTU, router and deck phone?? 2. Will lightning fry them?? 3. Do we need to unplug the fiber optic wire going into the BTU ??
When using streamyx last time, we used to unplug telephone line entering into modem.

A friend told me his amazing set up: He stay in his father's house, and his father does not want external wiring inside the house.
What he did was, the BTU, router etc is placed in the store room, then he install HomePlug to connect his STB and PC to the router which is a distance away.
He bought a pair of HomePlug device, each connected to router and PC/STB.
No need wiring at all.

QUOTE(deora @ Mar 11 2011, 07:59 PM) my unifi installation is next week..i wan to ask..is it a good idea to use TP-Link TL-WR841N straight away after unifi installation?..read many negative post on the DIR-615 router.. if im to use TP-Link TL-WR841N, i just connect it with the BTU and no need to use the DIR-615 right? To avoid massive wiring inside your house, u can use HomePlag device. Basically, connect your router using rj45 to homeplug, plug into power socket, then another homeplug connect to PC.

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Mar 16 2011, 08:00 PM) Yes... My hypptv is watched using an old 21" tv. Just student house, no LCD. haha... Got s-video, component, hdmi and rca for you to choose. No worries. FYI, only hdmi and rca cables are provided. haha If we use HDMI cable, do we still need to plug in audio (right and left) cables? I heard HDMI cable transmit both video and audio, is that true?
