yeah certain sites are slow, dunno if its related to the recent tsunami incident, cable cut underwater.

That's a speed test between local contents and local servers. How can it be affected by ACPN? hmm.gif

I'm staying in an apartment. My apartment unit is quite near to the MDF/SDF room of my floor. I think around 10 meters only.
Will this effect the latency and speed?

this slow performance issue happened since last week before japan earthquake. so i think is nothing to do with undersea cable.

Is there a method to test out the wifi coverage by the contractors to check first before they leave? who knows maybe they could do something to improve it in the configuration which they can?

You are likely to be constrained by the wifi router transmit power itself. TM supplied router does the intended function but its pretty much entry level. In some cases you may need another router operating as an extender or WDS (wireless network distribution) for the areas where wifi signal is too low. Or it could be due to interference from other wifi routers in your location (eg neighbours). 802.1 under 2.4Ghz has only like 11 or 13 channels and even then its like very much less than 10 wifi can operate in the same location without interference. Plus 2.4 Ghz devices including cordless telephone etc are know to cause interference.

In essence, there are many variables that may cause a drop in the range of your wifi and pretty hard for us to tell you what is the cause. Solution is better router or extend the network.

Read somewhere that up to 100m would support pretty good speeds. Can't remember the source though but its a reputable site.

According to the PDF linked below from Ericsson, speeds can exceed 100Mbps over very short distances. Unifi has quite comfortable margin for at least the next 5-10 years with how internet speeds move in Malaysia. biggrin.gif
