QUOTE(dudey @ Mar 13 2011, 02:05 PM) Just got my 20mb unifi line installed today. I forgot to mention, when i was only getting 10mb, I kept restarting the router and somehow, the router was put back to its default settings. I had to manually type in my unifi account into the router. Are there any settings in the router that can effect the speed? When the technician was here, i checked my connection speed on www.speedtest.net and was getting 20mb to a server in Malaysia However, after 2 hours, i checked speedtest.net again, im getting only 3mb out of the 20mb i subscribed for. Must i restart my router to get a different IP address just like streamyx to get a better speed? |

Maybe you should try downloading Vista SP2 from Microsoft. No validation required. Just try it and cancel it half way. I can get full speed from the server

QUOTE(BlueHeng @ Mar 13 2011, 05:23 PM) Ping rate doesn't make a big difference other than the 1st hop to the gateway which might be single digit for FTTH.With give and take, VDSL2 deployments are much faster and more economical. People can't be waiting for years to have FTTH installed. DSL could match fiber ping rates if the telco knows what they're doing. Your sig with TPG results compared with Unifi already prove so. Does it makes much difference if you can get 15ms with Unifi and 25ms with TPG ADSL2+/VDSL2 with nearby oveasea servers such as those in Singapore/ Taiwan or Japan? |

Dude relax, I just said that there will be a difference. I didn't say that it'll be a noticeable huge difference. He was asking bout the difference, so I merely brought up the issue bout ping and I didn't even say 'hey, don't get it cause VDSL sucks'. Heck you're even right about my sig, I enjoyed using TPG's ADSL2+ back in Melbourne more than the FTTH here! It's way cheaper than Unifi. With give and take, VDSL2 deployments are much faster and more economical. People can't be waiting for years to have FTTH installed. QUOTE(iipohbee @ Mar 13 2011, 04:26 PM) No difference unless they start offering some package above 50mbps. thanks for your input, Even ADSL2+ can offer the same 20mbps which Unifi is offering with some sacrifices of slower upload. guess that i would only know/understand after i got my Unifi @ Condo. hey guys, just want to find out how things work between a customer vs contractor vs Telekom about the Wifi Coverage Area.
If i install my system upstairs and i get the wifi upstairs with good signal bar displayed and not downstairs, will this void the contract with Telekom or we can ask the contractor to ensure that the coverage is equally covered in all areas in the house. Can Telekom replace the modem if the customers cannot get a satisfactorily result from this installation. What happen ? I know many are tempted to have speed broadband and accepted the terms very fast after the installation even when the promises of wifi coverage is below par. Is there a method to test out the wifi coverage by the contractors to check first before they leave? who knows maybe they could do something to improve it in the configuration which they can?
