I bought N8 as my first smart phone for its camera, so I don't really care (or know) of the updates, but it would be nice to see if it would get support regularly. I've planned to use the phone for a 2 or 3 years and I don't want to change annually

I'm prepared to bet they won't dare to give up symbian just yet. U get few hundred million users pissed.. Wat's the result? No more support from them towards future products. Nokia won't risk tat.

Agreed! Nokia is not that stupid to wreck their own leading market phones. I think the alliance between Nokia & Microsoft is giving consumers more varieties to all their consumer. In the end, (who knows?) Symbian, MeeGo & WP7 is standing on par with all Nokia's diversified users. I'm not surprise Nokia might acquire more of the market OS-es to set back their (my assumption motto):-

"Now everyone can choose different types of OS-es with NOKIA"

i suggest not to update 1.1
the only good thing about the update is they fix the ovi store problem after hard reset
i'm waiting for 2.0 update for proper qwerty keyboard. anything else i'm just happy with my n8 now. no complaint

but i tink the OS needs more affordable phone and this is definitely helpful with Nokia going into it..as we know that Nokia can reli lower the selling price for it...if depends on HTC to lower the price, the days this OS to take market dominance may never come.
