To me, I thought it was a good thing. Even their own staff is making noises where Nokia has taken this approach. Internally, we still do not know how badly it hits them. However, as far as I'm concern, Nokia is taking a leap by bringing their 3rd OS for their phone.
1st thing that comes into my mind, varieties of OS-es like how their phone caters to many. 2nd, I remember Nokia is also in-talks with Android. How true is this, we still do not know until their next annoucement. Eventually, Nokia wants to lay off Symbian as basic phone functions, Meego for business?? WP7 for blah blah and Android for another blah blah... Swallowing market again? Monopolying strategy?? It's a big start. It's like killing their own staff with tons. But hey, more employment = more jobs!!! This post has been edited by jbb_lkh: Feb 12 2011, 01:01 AM |

QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Feb 12 2011, 01:11 AM) I totally agree with you on their over stating promises. Well, sometimes the change of management can be a little cruel. (Wolrd-of-Business...lol) However, I like the fact that Symbian is still one of the market leader even though you know other OS-es are crazily involving many minds of the young ones.Let's see what's Nokia next step... It's a little disoriented of me to see such move but I'm also trying very hard to look at the brighter side. Fingers cross?? |

QUOTE(andrekua @ Feb 12 2011, 01:21 AM) Despite the news, no one knows for sure if Nokia is buying time to develop a brand new OS from scratch or just simply wanna cut cost by having someone else develop the software for them. What has been a problem for Nokia since the last few years was the ability to attract software developers. Perhaps they are hoping that MS dominance in PC would help them gather the force to push more apps/games out. A win win situation for both perhaps? I was thinking about it too. Win-win... However, they kinda need a little consistency. Too many OS will kind wreck their customer based but for the long term, it kinda lure them in due to variety of selections. Win-Win for all parties actually...QUOTE(Agito666 @ Feb 12 2011, 01:30 AM) all 50% - 50% to me... lol!! |

QUOTE(luckyhillkop @ Feb 12 2011, 01:45 AM) Doubtful but still searching the light at the end of the tunnel for Symbian in Nokia's tiny little hole. |

QUOTE(botakbin @ Feb 12 2011, 12:00 PM) I'm prepared to bet they won't dare to give up symbian just yet. U get few hundred million users pissed.. Wat's the result? No more support from them towards future products. Nokia won't risk tat. Agreed! Nokia is not that stupid to wreck their own leading market phones. I think the alliance between Nokia & Microsoft is giving consumers more varieties to all their consumer. In the end, (who knows?) Symbian, MeeGo & WP7 is standing on par with all Nokia's diversified users. I'm not surprise Nokia might acquire more of the market OS-es to set back their (my assumption motto):-"Now everyone can choose different types of OS-es with NOKIA" This post has been edited by jbb_lkh: Feb 12 2011, 12:13 PM |
