I am not going to change my disc 2 and disc 3 of Planet Earth Special Edition as it needs to send back to 2 Entertain. A bit disappointed with it insist.

Overall I still impress with it new transfer except certain slightly over expose in disc 2 and disc 3 white snow area.

---------------
The new transfer is gorgeous but .....

Kindly notes you might as well get the old patch of Special Edition which having certain scenes over expose issue transfer in disc 2 and disc 3 and 2 Entertain is too insist you to return back the disc before it will make a replacement.

THE OLD PATCH IS STILL SURROUNDING IN THE MARKET! INCLUDE AMAZON! 2 ENTERTAIN TOO INSIST OF DISC RETURNING BEFORE YOU GET A REPLACEMENT!

I am worried of returning & dissatisfied:
  • What happen if the send over fault disc did not receive by 2 entertain? Is that means I will forever missing two disc of it?
  • The disc is faulty and rectified by 2 entertain but I still need to spend such money for getting the correct disc?! I found out this is too unfair to customer.
  • If the replacement disc PQ is more worst, then how? I don't think I will get the origin disc back. I know this Planet Earth set keeping different problems transfer issue from time to time. Example previous release was having slightly banding artifact, slightly over compress issue & incorrect timing transfer, now the new set facing the over expose issue in disc 2 and disc 3 for certain scenes, most obvious in those white snow area.
  • Why need returning the faulty disc? is 2 entertain gonna to re-pack and sell to others customer? This is not acceptable!

After reading ur post 2-3times to understand what u r saying, my advice to u would be to write to amazon uk about it if u bought it from them and explain ur concerns. They will offer some help.

I believe u mean batch and not patch and some of the other words I am just guessing what u r trying to say, but I believe ur meaning is that u hv concerns.

I have had these kinds of issues with other discs from uk and us and after attempting to get a proper fix, amazon usually comes thru.

Don't quite agree if the defect disc will be recycled and sold again. Probably they'll dump it to archive!

I believe they are not going to recycled, I just unhappy they insist me return the disc before getting the replacement.

----------------------
Anyway, I am not going to return the disc to 2 entertain for replacement, it just too troublesome.

----------------------
In overall, this new release is having a great transfer than previous release, at least they is no any over compress issue, no banding issue and importantly running smooth without any noticeable judder issue.

My Personal Review Of The Nightmare Before Christmas Blu-ray

Presenting again with another , hopefully not lengthy review before i forget what i've seen couple of days ago. The Nightmare Before Christmas comes with 2 disc , 1 Blu-ray and 1 Disney File Disc ie Digital Copy (expired though) and with an embossed rainbow effect cardboard Slipcover. I have read the review of this film long ago, and i would definitely agree with some of the aspects highlighted by the reviewing experts which i'll brief in a moment.

Another film from the maker of "Coraline" Henry Selick . The film retains 1:66:1 AR with aa small pillarbox bars on the sides of the 16:9 frame. The picture is amazing, dazzling and vivid, revealing even a small detail (if you watch closely). The puppets in this film looked stunning and the colors was flawless throughout the film. I thought my screen had problems but found out that the film itself has high color details. Not surprised with Disney's BD authoring process though!. Not to forget the transfer were good at the average of 31mbps.

I must admit this is a well crafted stop motion animation although it was done like 18 years ago and i truly enjoyed the musical show. As usual, not gonna excessively write about sound as chosen Dolby True HD 7.1 and it sounded amazing for a such an old animated film. The bass was good somehow. Precisely refined sound and good work done over here. The Extras is another major highlight of the release. It has plenty of Extras to watch as i've skipped them for now.

This film comes with a "Must Own" recommendation if you could find the right price for it anywhere.

Always refer to Amazon first before ask distributor. Amazon always will take care for you in case your disc got problems.

I believe 2 Entertain ask you to return the disc first is because their don't have your purchase records. Their are not sure you are actually own the disc or not. If you are supplier, if someone told you he brought your goods from somewhere and found out that your products got problem and want exchange/replacement, do you will ask him to prove he brought the goods in the first place?

Understand what you mean, but the problem is I already send back all my invoice, even some screenshot of the package as their request. That why I found not a necessary asking for disc returning anymore.

My mistake also never though of asking Amazon in first place before emailing 2 entertain.

Finally decide taking some risk ordering the following title which can't confirm whether it was region B locked or FREE, base on 2 Entertain style in region lock, it seems never lock any BBC documentaries BD before.

Wish me luck the BD is region FREE. smile.gif

Hi bro,

Just a suggestion, instead of going through all the trouble & efforts on checking the Zone, why don't u just go & get a ZONE B player. I believe u really into Blu-ray collection, trust me, there are tons of good ZONE B title availables.

Added on March 20, 2011, 6:48 pmAMZ UK is crazy, another really cool sales:

SPIDERMAN BOX SET - UK$14.50 only = RM73 (box set man, u can't even get a single disc in Malaysia with this $)
Close Encounter to 3rd.... - UK$6.50 only = RM33 (cheaper than a DVD)
DIRTY Harry - UK$4 only!!

a must, a must

Bought my 41st (or is it 42nd) title at Speedy yesterday; Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole Blu-ray RM99.

Simple review -
I am absolutely stunned by the PQ. If you want to buy just one disc as demo disc - this is the one you should buy! The AQ is as good with loseless DTS MA - for those of you who have a 5.1 or a 7.1 - just listen to the battle between the Guardians and Pure Ones towards the end-of the movie. The sound of those scenes is already worth the money you pay for the disc.

All in all - this BD should be classified as a MUST-HAVE title. This movie or BD represents the absolute best audio and video quality that 1080p Blu-ray has to offer.

Thinking of the above, we should start a tread to voice our opinion on MUST-HAVE titles. What do you think?

Do Speedy offer membership like EZY video... can get discount on the purchase?

BTW The Guardian is definitely a keeper...the 3D version even more spectacular...

Not bad idea, this can let people have more choice of idea which titles is great to have a look, but always remember this is personal preferences.

Let me start my Top 10 Must Have BD title smile.gif
  • Baraka - this is one of the best PQ & AQ for visual preferences, you will notice quite a lot of nicest scenery you never seen before or you seen before but never been that beauty. This is a no narration film.
  • Alien Anthology - a must have for Alien fans.
  • Life - one of the best BBC documentary, you need to see this even you never like documentary.
  • The Sound of Music - gorgeous transfer, an epic musical film everyone shall see.
  • Ultimate Toy Box 3-Movie Collection - Complete collection of a must own Pixar 3D animation film. Perfection in PQ & AQ.
  • A.I. Artificial Intelligence - perfect transfer, loving it. Mine is German edition, at the moment this movie is not yet release in US & UK, but you already can get it from German, Japan and even Malaysia Speedy shop.
  • Avatar - this might not a greatest film, but this definately one of the finest transfer film.
  • Celine Dion: A New Day - the only concert I own so far, singing together with theatrical entertainment is another level of it, so hope I watch it before in real concert. It is a fusion of song, performance art, innovative stage craft and state-of-the-art technology.
  • Beauty and the Beast - one of the Disney best animation.
  • Trainspotting - the most perfect transfer I ever seen (remember must get the latest german Quersteelbook edition new transfer). It not perfect but with such low cost film, you can't request more. Brilliant done, this the film that I knew Danny Boyle, one of my favor director. (They is some frontal and sexual scenes, not for family view)
