Not bad idea, this can let people have more choice of idea which titles is great to have a look, but always remember this is personal preferences.

Let me start my Top 10 Must Have BD title smile.gif

  • Baraka - this is one of the best PQ & AQ for visual preferences, you will notice quite a lot of nicest scenery you never seen before or you seen before but never been that beauty. This is a no narration film.

  • Alien Anthology - a must have for Alien fans.

  • Life - one of the best BBC documentary, you need to see this even you never like documentary.

  • The Sound of Music - gorgeous transfer, an epic musical film everyone shall see.

  • Ultimate Toy Box 3-Movie Collection - Complete collection of a must own Pixar 3D animation film. Perfection in PQ & AQ.

  • A.I. Artificial Intelligence - perfect transfer, loving it. Mine is German edition, at the moment this movie is not yet release in US & UK, but you already can get it from German, Japan and even Malaysia Speedy shop.

  • Avatar - this might not a greatest film, but this definately one of the finest transfer film.

  • Celine Dion: A New Day - the only concert I own so far, singing together with theatrical entertainment is another level of it, so hope I watch it before in real concert. It is a fusion of song, performance art, innovative stage craft and state-of-the-art technology.

  • Beauty and the Beast - one of the Disney best animation.

  • Trainspotting - the most perfect transfer I ever seen (remember must get the latest german Quersteelbook edition new transfer). It not perfect but with such low cost film, you can't request more. Brilliant done, this the film that I knew Danny Boyle, one of my favor director. (They is some frontal and sexual scenes, not for family view)

*
Hi Andrew,
I got the trainspotting from AMZ UK, the quality is soso only, but it is very cheap, at around RM15, together with SHALLOW GRAVE, another DANNY BOYLE early movie.

My TOP 10 Lisy would be:
1)APOCLAYPSE NOW - FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA most dedicated project, a movie not perfect but a flim maker really tested his limit.
2)FORREST GUMP - 1 of the best transfer i seen for a 1990s title.
3)BLACK HAWK DOWN - Technical at best, gun firing, tension, camera work, all at RIDLEY SCOTT top form. SONY Bluray disc is a demo material.
4) DELICATESSEN - STUDIO CANAL release, LION GATE ZoneA, a FRENCH drak, black comedy with lots of surprises. Camera work matched perfectly with the Movie score & iits dark humor.
5) SEVEN - New line cool digibook - PC & sound quality is at top notch. Horror & dark, best performance from BRAD PITT, MORGAN FREEMAN & KEVIN SPACEY.
6) LEON : The Professional - I need to include at least 1 LUC BESSON movie, it would be LEON, a movie made in US by a French Director, 1 of the best movie score by ERIC SERA, staring JENE RENO, GARY OLDMAN & NATALIA PORTMAN. Cold, cool, stylish, the SONY BLURAY offer good pic/sound & extended cut.
7) 2001 SPACE ODYSEY - Stanley Kubrick masterpiece in 1960s, way b4 the CGI. The space effects looks much better/real & dimension than the latest STARWARS PRE-Quel. best watch at large screen with HD projector.
8) MINORITY REPORT - i pick up MI Report rather tahn a much better mv Saving Private Ryan because I felt this Minority REport Blurayactually changed the way how I felt about the movie. Athe movie never look & sound so great before. the details, color, sounds effects, wow. Besides, I hv to include 1 of my favorite star TOM CRUISE.
9) HERO (JETLi/TONY LEE) - this is the chinese big action movi i lived the most. woth multi layer, beautiful, & worth repeat viewing. Too bad the BD only offer DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1
10) TRANSFORMER 2 - ha, i know is a bad movie, but it is demo disc. Sorry, guys, I just don't like AVATAR.

i love HEAT, SEVEN SAMURAI, GOODFELLAS, LOTR, TAXI DRIVER, PIXAR INCREDIBLES, but neither they are in good bluray nor release yet.

My top 10 list
1. Legend of the Guardian - Top PQ, period.
2. Avatar - another demo and reference disc in both PQ and AQ
3. Royale Casino - if you aim to show the best detail, best PQ of what is Bluray is all about - this is the one you should be demo-ing.
4. Ice-age 3 - The detail is so great on this animation, you will fell in love with the film because of the PQ not because of the storyline
5. T2 Skynet Edition - this is one of the best AQ - way better than my original DVD!
6. Iron Man 1&2 - Both are reference quality material. It should be able to test your HT and TV to the fullest
7. Once upon a time in China - A MUST HAVE title for martial art film, superb PQ and AQ (although the transfer may not be the best)
8. BBC Life - Already reviewed above.
9. Ip Man 1 & 2 HK Edition - DTS MA 7.1; Another reference quality material especially the AQ. Forget about the movie - just impress your friend by showing the scene where Ip Man is fighting the Japanese General (in chapter 1) and Ip Man fighting Sammo Hung (in chapter 2) - and blast your HT!!

Other consideration
1. Transformer - PQ and AQ are good but somehow, there is no significant jump from original DVD set. So I am not putting them as MUST have titles

9) HERO (JETLi/TONY LEE) - this is the chinese big action movi i lived the most. woth multi layer, beautiful, & worth repeat viewing. Too bad the BD only offer DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 - I hope it can re-mastered, I seen before, the PQ is bad.

The UK version of trainspotting quality not good as review said, it is on BD 25, only German new version new transfer in BD 50 with DTS-HD 5.1 Audio.

LOTR EE is on my coming list.

Taxi Driver - I will get it soon, I want the France Limited Edition Digipack! Not sure whether it was Region Free yet or not.. haizz... I think I truly need Region FREE BD player!

Bought my 41st (or is it 42nd) title at Speedy yesterday; Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole Blu-ray RM99.

Simple review -
I am absolutely stunned by the PQ. If you want to buy just one disc as demo disc - this is the one you should buy! The AQ is as good with loseless DTS MA - for those of you who have a 5.1 or a 7.1 - just listen to the battle between the Guardians and Pure Ones towards the end-of the movie. The sound of those scenes is already worth the money you pay for the disc.

All in all - this BD should be classified as a MUST-HAVE title. This movie or BD represents the absolute best audio and video quality that 1080p Blu-ray has to offer.

Thinking of the above, we should start a tread to voice our opinion on MUST-HAVE titles. What do you think?
*
1. Blade Runner Complete Collector's Edition - Sci-fi Masterpiece , Must have!
2. Toy Story 3 - Disney has done it again ! Must have !
3. The Thin Red Line - Criterion! Need to say more?
4. Sin City - Speechless! Watch it ..
5. The Sound Of Music - For a 1965 film , the audio absolutely mesmerizes!
6. The Dark Knight - Nolan's masterpiece! IMAX shots were superb..
7. Gladiator (Remastered) - Sapphire Warrior !
8. Ratatouille - Speechless .. Watch it
9. Iron Man - Both film & features worth having in the shelves
10. Transformers ROTF Walmart Edition - Stunning disc!

IMHO, Ip Man 1 has mediocre AQ. The vocal is muffled & soft while the bass is overly done. It is almost identical to Transformers II. Ip Man 2 is a lot better.

As for Avatar, I hate the 25hz cut off that is being applied. That goes the same for LOTR normal version. Hate it.

First of all, many more happy returns of the day. Go for Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 3D if the price is right.
Awesome animation to keep in collection..

Hi bro, good taste

1) love BLADE RUNNER, just order the standard disc (final cut) cause already owned the DVD complete set. the best sci-fi movie with message
2) love TOY STORY Triology too, but prefer INCREDIBLES which will be release in APRIL
3) THIN RED LINE - just watch again last week, beautiful film. I recommend Terrence Malicks' Criterion Collection - DAYS OF HEAVEN (u might already got it)
4) SIN CITY - what version is the best? where to get?
5) not my cup of tea
6) ya, the IMAX is cool, but i still can't accept the continuesly of changing in screen ratio from 2.35 to 1.66. i know, is directors decision & full frame/info, but just feel weird.
7) Gladiator, i got it too, but not the remastered version, will upgrade when sales - I believe u also got BRAVEHEART (Sapphire)

hi all members, pls add your list for discussion. this is really cool.

ANDREW & SKYWIR3p, pls add some pic when u are free. i will upload some photo of my home theater & the 500 collection when i am free.

I believe the Single disc edition lot more sufficient , not necessarily need to have the 5 disc edition. Sin City get the 2 disc edition or you can get the Steelbook from Amazon Canada , i think its about 21.69 CDN $. Braveheart, yes..i haven't had the right time to watch it. Days Of Heaven , haven't had the chance to get it yet. Its 32 bucks , even during the BF last year, i did not manage to add it to Cart. Batman Begins , The Dark Knight is a must. Gladiator, I have not seen the 1st release since i skipped it when it released.

Sources claiming that it could possibly be an issue with BD-Live contented discs. Try playing the disc offline and if you are not online while playing the disc and the issue still recurs get an immediate replacement!
