Out of budget too. Only got 8k.
Is D7000+Siggy 17-50 f2.8+50 1.4D good enough you think?

Have you use the Tammy 17-50 before? It's much cheaper than the Siggy but I hate lens that hunt in low light. I'll get so frustrated when some 1.5k thing cannot focus while my girlfriend's S95 ace it 99% of the time. HAHA.

40-50 participants only~ haha. Not until hundreds lor.. we were given 2 hours to shoot then need to select photo and pass up. Then live judging lo.

its normal if a lense hunt in low light. even a 24-70 nikkor also hunts.

1750 hunts way more frequently compared to a 2470 nikkor. If in a condition where the 2470 hunts, I doubt the 1750 can get a lock on at all.

I will get 50mm 1.4g nikkor for my dx body

if i got 8k , i sure will get d700+50mm 1.4g , or d700+85mm 1.4d , 50mm nikkor is light same 35mm on dx body .

But since you say fx lens cost more than DX , i think u go choose DX body better? haha

Yeah, I understand if a lens hunts once in a while in low light but if it hunts 4-5 times out of 10 don't you feel cheated and wanna smash it on the ground? It's 1500 not 150 the lens! LOL!

Well, so Sigma 17-50+50 1.4D or Siggy17-50+55-300 DX VR F4.5-5.6G+50 1.8D?
1.4D and the 1.8D in terms of background blur which one is easier to get it done?

50mm 1.4g is a very very nice lens ><b

Yeah, getting the d700 is tempting, but it will take me another 2 years before i'll save enough money to buy another FX lens. HAHAHAHA.

sigma 24-70. cheap and good. 6k for body. 1.8k for lense.

wow, money can't buy everything eh. So many varieties so little money.

For me i prefer nikkor 50mm 1.4g eventhough sigma sharper at wide open and better bokeh-creamy . Sigma can focus faster than nikkor 50mm , less vignetting
I like lightweight, 50mm 1.4 not so bad , it is very good , not bad for focusing accuracy at least better than sigma =D
I can carry it anywhere i want , because lightweight

Although Sigma bokeh is better than nikkor one , but not much different also

wan good bokeh get 85mm 1.4g , the bokeh is WOW WOW

got too much money to spare(8k) so wanna get some new toy and are now spoil by choice.

hello, newbie/noobie here...starting stalking this thread and compiling question that can throw at here later...currently using D70s only

now hardcore saving money... still cannot decide should i change to canon or stay in nikon...since i plan sell my D70s later with kit lens. (because i didnt take care well...)

so now doing research and buy some air tight box to prevent my D70s get worst...

yyea, i choose nikkor over sig because of the weight while siggy is very bulky...

as the bokeh... izit that obvious enough to differentiate easily without putting picture from both lens side by side?

haha that depends on the user. But with Siggy a noob like me can create nice bokehlicious photo too.

i think 50mm f/1.8 also can give you nice bokeh..

(cheapest nikkor u know... )

Sigma 17-50? The OS version, that's around RM2.4K++
If you don't need to OS, get the 18-50mm for around RM1.6K and it also comes with some Macro capabilities
Or go for Tamron if you need the VC. Without VC, you could save up to another RM500.

Since your zoom lens already covered wide to 50mm, for the prime, you can go for 85mm f/1.8D; It's a nice portrait lens around RM1.5K++
If you want walkabout primes, better go for 35mm f/1.8G DX, or 35mm f/2D

If you plan to jump, then go same model as SHIFU aspire.


For bokeh, depends which you're comparing; For 50mm f/1.8D, yes it's very obvious, even 50mm f/1.4D, one reason is the 7 bladed diaphragm; Due to this, you can't get smooth round bokeh especially stop down a little; Even the Sigma Zoom lens with 9 rounded diaphragm blades renders more beautifully.

I prefer the Siggy coz it has better AF especially in low light and i think OS is great for shooting landscape and indoors.
85mm are great but isn't it too much for a DX body? I'll probably have to stand so far away that people will always get in between the subject and me. What you think?
