QUOTE(pikipiki @ Feb 15 2011, 03:19 PM) It's about double or more than double the price of 1.8D; Worth or not depends on the person who will be investing in it. The best is to test out yourself at Nikon BTS, they have the 1.8D, 1.4D and 1.4G; Test out yourself and see/feel the difference and whether its worth to pay for it. If you're photographer earning $$$, it might be worth to get the G as you will get your return on investment; But if you're a hobbyist or not earning much, then it depends on your budget and how much you're willing to pay,... also, probably how detail-conscious you are? Sometimes, people don't really look/know the details but they just want to get the best there is; If they have the $$$ then it's not a problem, else, they should think more properly whether it's to pay the extra bucks. Whatever your choice, most important is for your to test out yourself; In the end, it's still just a tool, it depends on your skills and how you utilize it. If one day you found its limitation and wishes to upgrade, I "believe" you can still sell the lens at good price. |

QUOTE(pikipiki @ Feb 15 2011, 04:24 PM) PP as u wish, it will never have the colour signature of the G lens. That's why i resist to buy 85 1.4D and I sold off my 80-200 right after I have tested the 70-200vr2.... Actually not only the colour is better, everything else i just a little bit or way better compared to the old lens and buying a good lens will last you for a long long time.. I won't consider the G at all as it is too expensive. I just want a lens that I know is money well spent and will have me to blame for the bad photos instead of the gear was not up to par and regret later on. But will try it out at BTS myself to see the difference. |

Pain once only buy the best 70-200mm VR has much noticeable difference from the 80-200mm, the first is thing is weight, then the focusing speed, and with VR.... handheld on close subject with slow shutter speed is possible, and the quality is simply amazing. Continuous focus speed is blazing fast... overall,... really But the price |

How much is the G around Klang Valley, think it's gonna be too pain for me! Talking about telephoto, how about the 70-300? it's cheap and it's quite sharp apparently. |
