If not wrong, ur kit lens doesn't come with VR, so if you're used to digital camera with image stabilization, you might neglect holding your camera properly. Next if you're on auto or aperture priority, the shutter speed is controlled by the camera, it may go below the recommended shutter speed for the given focal range.
The simple recommendation is, if your focal length is 50mm, your shutter speed should be at least 1/50 or faster. On DX camera, 50mm will become 75mm focal length.
That's just a guideline, if you hold it steady enough and properly, you can however go slower shutter speed. If you don't hold properly, you might still get blur shots even if you follow the guide/recommended shutter speed.
Next, in DSLR, there is picture control, on higher end model, as I know the default shaprening may be very low, so this will also afect the sharpness of the image. For general photography andversatility/convenience and easy to snap photos, point and shoot would be a better choice, just point and shoot, like the N8.
ya both of my lens dun have VR....
in before that i shoot follow feel only...

means after shot the things, check back photo...zoom...then if not okay then shot again
never read the meter on the lens...go back check check view finder got reading about focal length or not.
