I am having a problem with htc sync. i don't normally use outlook, but for this purpose, i have installed ms office outlook 2007.....

however whenever i connect the phone, i get an error message that there is either no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request......

i have set the outlook to default, but it is still not working.....

i don't know why it is so difficult to do simple syncs of data like contacts and calender with the pc.........anybody can help?..........

^I use google calender, so whatever I do on my phone's calender gets updated to my google calender. Anything that syncs with google calender gets synced as well.

Though I don't really have experience in syncing b/w phone and desktop...

Oh yeah. For those who had the sleeping beauty problem (aka sleep dead, or sleep of death SOD), can you provide the brand of memory card that you used when the power down occured (can be done in the GDocs in first page)?

To those that never had the problem, do list down the brand of the SD card as well.

I was using the provided SanDisk 8GB Class 4. After I sent for repairs it still happened, but not as frequent (maybe I did not let it have enough standby time to trigger). Recently I changed to a 16GB Kingston Class 4 and the problem never occurred anymore.

Usually if I do not charge for more than 24 hours and let it remain in standby most of the time, it will do that sleep of death thing. After changing Sd cards even after 3 days of not charging, it didn't occur. So, I'm inclined to believe that the SD card is the culprit.

i am also having problem with google calender. Although I sync the phone with google, all 3 components, contacts, gmail and calender, the calender online is not updated with the phone calender.........

also, is there any way of transferring the content of the old events in outlook to google calender, as i use it as a dairy as well?...

i am a bit disappointed with android, it is obviously not a bug free as iphone, where synchronisation is concerned..........

Totally agreed. The enterprise function footprint sucks badly! No native task app. No full HTML hotmail support. No exchange task. HTC sense mail have problem with hotmail. Too little useful email gesture n stuff like that..

N btw, I'm using sandisk 16gb class 2 and nokia 8gb class 6. Nothing happen to me at all.

I never have problem syncing FB with HTC sense. Could be your account probably. Not sure whether you have to allowed htc sense to sync first or not at your FB account.

Anyway, downloading the virtuous new rom now. Been using their previous rom for 2-3 weeks and it has been awesome so far. But i thought the 'ring' lockscreen feature was already added back in previous rom? Anyway, hopefully this new rom can switch from 3G to 2G. Sucks battery much ._.

Virtuous does not have the Sense 3.0 ring lockscreen. Virtuous is meant to be as close to an official Vision HTC release as possible.

The Fusion ROM is a sort of full fledged Sense 3.0 ROM with all the widgets and lockscreen resized for our screen.

I see (:

Have you try this rom? I already flashed but somehow i got stuck at the bootscreen (the one where it shows "htc quitely brilliant") where it keeps on rebooting at that stage for more then 20 minutes. I'm not sure what i did wrong.

lol Bootloop. I've never been in a situation before. Solutions I always see are:

a) Pull battery and reboot; or
b) boot into recovery and perform factory reset; or
c) reflash the ROM (wiping everything this time).

Hopefully it gets to boot.

Might want to visit the XDA forum to ask for help. In fact I recommend you to do so now.

Batt life sux......
charged to 100% before i went to slp and i woke up with 93%
wifi off
gsm only
brightness 10%
bluetooth off
background data off (obviously)
all location services off except phone finder..

Bro, I let my data connection on the whole day, wifi turned off. (Wifi drains less batery than data)

Pull out the charger at 7am. go to work, a lil net surfing on data connection at lunch-time, game, download balalba. Little Fb back at my desk.
go back home. still got more juice at 10pm.

I must admit its sufficient for me on NORMAL usage. like foo said, I just live my life without caring about the batt meter. things pretty work out.
However I do long for that 1800mah DC MUGEN BATTERY. drool.gif

How does USB tethering works? I can't seem to get it to work even with HTC Sync installed. I know there's always the Wifi Hotspot but I feel like USB will be better (privacy wise and less 'broadcast')

USB tethering is better then Wifi (in term of speed and stability)

You can just enable it under settings > Wifi and network > USB tethering. Don't need third party software except..for usb drivers.
