QUOTE(ooiwbng @ Feb 11 2011, 10:07 PM) im newbie either.. hopefully i got it correct..rooting is gaining full user access into the system. well, u will know this well enough if u r a unix/linux user. for example, rooting can turn security off, allow flashing of 3rd party rom (unofficial rom other than htc) bcaz no security mechanism to check on the rom's checksum. besides, by gaining to root access, u able to use some apps, such as take screenshot (using shootme), or over / underclock your cpu. u can even change kernel to change more flexible overclock range. corerct if im wrong alright? im new.. |

i found there is currently too few rom in development for g2. 1)virtuous 2)CM7 nightly build (what pocketnow editorial using ATM) 3)3 teamvillian rom (supervillain, vanilla villain, and GingerVillain 1.5 ) 4)modaco sense rom <- i always cant boot once flash this rom. twice for me. im using virtuous ATM. cant really live without sense.. lol any better suggestion for me to test? is gingervillain + launcherpro better ? below is my shots.. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by rkwan67: Feb 12 2011, 05:09 AM |

QUOTE(mjj2332 @ Feb 12 2011, 08:05 AM) Hi, I'm currently a Galaxy S user. I'm loooking for a new phone with trackpad to replace it. i cant make it without touching the screen to highlight anything i wan. even with touch the Capacitive touch screen is badly performed. comparing to nail sensitive resistive touch and fingernail touch. arghh, bad. im still learning to use my thumb properly. I'm considering blackberry torch, blackberry bold 9780, and desire Z. I need to reply lots of e-mail, and using web-app. Can the desire z select text in browser/e-mail, using only trackpad (without using touch screen)? Does desire z have any LED indicator on missed call/email/sms? galaxy s has no LED indicator....i've to turn the screen on to do so........ How's the battery life on desire z with 3g turn on all the way? BB seems to have excellent battery life..... desire z do have LED indicator. my trackpad will blink as well whenever there is notification. so its fine for me. battery life in BB always pwn thanks to their unique BIS. i couldnt comment much on battery life, data is expensive in where im now. but my wifi is 24/7 on, with coverage throughout my campus, my G2 can hop point to point without DC. i can have my battery life from 8am to 12am. downside of BB is lacks of application to enhance the system, plus the BIS is so expensive. major people will rather sacrifice all that on BB and get android anyway. but if your email is as important as ur business, then BB is the way i would say. |

BTW, im on CM7 RC1 now.. stable enough for me. anyway, rom without sense, do u guys find problem about contact (integration with fb,skype, whatsapp), camera (its bad when advanced settings like iso n stuff cant be adjusted), dialer (without T9 and call history on the same screen)? |

QUOTE(YuuYuu @ Feb 19 2011, 01:01 PM) yeah thats what i dislike about stock based roms. the sense camera is really quite canggih I just found out what's wrong with my contact integration. Apparently vanilla dumb enough only able to integrate when your contact email is the same email my friend's facebook is, then I can link them. Otherwise, I just don't have that function to join. Not like sense that can manually link contact.im using gingervillain 1.5 which is based off a cm7 nightly, didn't get any problems with contact integration. maybe need to manually turn on under settings? as for dialer, i agree the stock dialer is I tried dialer one, somehow a bit laggy.. argh, screw it. Shall see how can I cope while time fly.. |

QUOTE(azfar @ Feb 19 2011, 02:21 PM) hello people... im using my tmobile g2 in usa. its locked when i got it. i unlocked it myself. and put in my DiGi simcard, it works in roaming mode tho.i need some help and advice from you guys...say if i buy this phone from UK which is locked to the carrier, can i get it unlocked ? something like jailbreak for iphone... and if i unlock it once, would i need to unlock it again if i update anything with the phone ? thanks for any feedbacks... and once its unlocked or s-off, its safe and permanent unless u unroot your phone. altho u need to update yourself with xda-developers, whereas there is time HTC will do some trick to the latest rom and automatically unroot your phone or somehow turn to s-off. not sure this affect lock/unlock status. anyway, Virtuous v1.0 is out. im downloading it now.. i still prefer sense rom.. lol |

Sense home screen doesn't rotate by g sensor. My home screen does not auto rotate to landscape, it only does when keyboard is slide out The screen auto-rotates in apps, but not in home screen. This is weird, tried restarting, pulling out battery even recalibrating the sensor, but still no success. Has anyone ever experienced this before? QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Feb 24 2011, 08:13 AM) Wouldn't surprise me if custom Sense ROMs enable it. IMO homescreens look weird in landscape. They get squished vertically. previous v0.90 and v0.95 wasnt enabled tho..anyway, i disabled auto rotation most of the time.. otherwise, using phone while on bed is so killing fun..Even on stock, using any launcher in Market, you can enable it to rotate by sensor detection. No biggie. |

hey guys.. is any major difference between wifi connected and 3g/hsdpa connected?
from my past experience, my phone only able to last me 6 hrs thanks to my usage. current g2 on wifi connected able to last me somewhere 10hrs. was wondering whether 3g/hsdpa connected will consume more battery? if yes, then i might grab a additional battery b4 i back to msia. msia wifi is horrible for me, i just rather stay connected with hsdpa. |
