4 sticks are harder to OC. Don't really fully utilize the RAM the largest amount i've used before was 5.5g max.  biggrin.gif
I'd grab the 2133c9 2x4gb kit, tighter timings & easier to OC.

thanks for the advice, targeting to buy that

is the 1.65v wil affect oc of i72600k?

I know it is one day old, but do I do good? It is the best stable clock speed I can archive.

Hi all the sifus here smile.gif I'm planning to build a new pc for myself with the i5 2500k and plan to OC for fun rolleyes.gif . wondering which mobo should i go for? a p67 or z68? i check the difference between both, and I guess I won't be needing the extra from z68. But I don't see much choice with p67 mobo. Any recommendation? Budget ~RM500

I have a Maximus IV Gene Z68, i5 2500K, 2x 4GB 1333MHz Corsair Vengeance (9-9-9-9-24). Auto tuned to 4.4GHz with 1.38v, it's unstable. Tried with bios EZ profile at 4.6GHz with 1.35v, also unstable. Right now running at 4.2GHz but I have yet to stress test it (not at home right now).

What could be the problem of the unstable OC? I thought 1.35v is more than enough for those speed. During BSOD I recall reading somewhere about clock speed error.

Or could it just be my PSU? But it's a 750w Strider 80+ silver and I only have one HD6950 in the rig.

I think that's BSOD 0x101, which is related to insufficient vcore.
try bump up the vcore.

Thanks for the tips. Gonna try that when I get home.

@Dennos
Uh, not sure.
EDIT: Mine is Malaysian chip.

hi guys smile.gif
At what level should i run IBT and LinX stress test in order to say my overclock is satisfactorily stable ?
Standard, High, Very High or maximum?

It seems i cant complete more than very high level (>4Gig Memory usage)...Its require extra voltage and produced more heat.... sweat.gif

maximus level is preferred coz it stresses the total amount of your usable memory, at the same time stressing your core clock & IMC to the max.
8GB should be taking an hour to complete 20 runs.
imagine 16GB is 2 hours lol.

I see, thank you bro... notworthy.gif
my setting as per my siggie..initially i managed to clock 4.5ghz @ 1.29vcore & complete 20 runs of IBT and LinX for high stress level (2GB mem usage) with the following reading:
- load vcore up to 1.35v
- Max core temperature 81'c
- Gflops kinda fluctuating between 113-116...

Gaming also seems stable without any crashes with above setting, and core temperature max around 65'c-70'c even @ 100% utilization.

However, when i try to run IBT @ 4GB memory usage, i got either IBT error message or BSOD on the 5th or 6th run... sweat.gif
It's only successful when i up the vcore to 1.32v, resulting in max core temp at 87'c, max vcore load 1.375....Have yet to try maximum (8GB mem usage) sweat.gif

I dont really aiming for 5Ghz or maximum benchies....My objective just for stable overclock for daily gaming usage at acceptable temperature...
I run IBT & LinX with all background application running which perhaps simulate the real usage environment..
I also enable Internal PLL Overvoltage & Vdroop set @ auto (=high).....
I disable EIST as well as Intel C-state...Disable Internal PLL seems dont have any effect to maintain the vcore from increasing during load...

Any advise very much appreciated notworthy.gif

u should bench it to 6gb at least for choosing best vcore.

The more ram amount u test the more efficient vcore u will find. Meanwhile the 2GB module is more difficult to OC than the 4GB. Latest games like Crysis2 etc will utilize lots of ram & this is where u might get BSOD etc due to inefficient vcore (means u set vcore lower than it actually needed).

Wow, you are absolutely correct bro notworthy.gif .....now i remember my freeze screen when i run Crysis2 DirectX11 HD at ultra setting 1600x900...
I thought its becoz of my GPU running out of juice...been running my unlock HD6950 at 900/1375 @ 1.175v biggrin.gif
But downclock the gpu core to 880 seems solved the problem sweat.gif

Thank you for the feedback notworthy.gif
will re-run crysis again later at 4.5ghz/1.32vcore and HD6950 at 900/1375 to see & share the result.... thumbup.gif

Just run IBT itself with maximum amount of ram will do biggrin.gif
IBT stress your processor a lot more than real world application
Also, remember to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and use latest IBT for best possible and accurate result smile.gif

Need help. ... i can run prime95 for about 2hours and no BSOD/error dectect, but when i run ITB it cant even pass the standard test 1... got BSOD and i have tried up the v.core up to 1.525 but still get BSOD (even at 1.545 i get 0x101 BSOD error...ouch) but how can i run prime95

Here my rig.

CPU - i5 2500k @ 5.0 (c.volt:1.515, temp max 75@prime 95, others i set too auto, need to check for more details if someone can help here)

But if i run multiplier at *48 then can use ITB at max setting....
so is my current volt need to be added??

So here my current setup... before this it was OC @5.0ghz but get BSOD when tested with ITB but can run prime95 for 2hours with no problem, so i adjust abit and this is what i used for now:
CPU@ 4.8Ghz, temp max 74, c.volt read @1.465 (in bios) tested using ITB max setting and 1.488(gpuz)

I really want to get the 5.0 Ghz if can..... full load temp below 85 >.<

mobo - Asus ext IV-z
psu - silverstone AX 850
gpu - giga7970 oc @ 1025/1450
RAM -4G*2 G.skills ripjawX F3-12800CL9D (1.5v, dint OC yet becaused i dont know how)

PS: or i just need to run in standard mod for ITB? is the maximum is too much? because it used all the RAM?

PS:my CPU was water cooled, GPU not yet as dont know where can i get the block..
