Beastly (2011?)

Let's get what is on anyone mind, when they hear about this movie.

Can Vanessa Hudgens (ingenue??) act?

In a nutshell, NO!

She became popular in High School Musical 1,2, & 3. She and he ex-beau (Zac Efron) made headlines... because they were going out!!

This is suppose to be CBS Film and her vehicle to make it big and... it is a semi-dud...

Alex Pettyfer plays a passable beast

Neil Patrick Harris does what he does in How I Met You Mother

Mary-Kate Olsen, surprisingly truly, TRULY got her part down pat!!! (Witch)

Gosh, she EVEN looks the part!!!!! (*shivers*)

Watch this ONLY if you have nothing better to watch....

man from nowhere [korean, 2011] - yes i do agree the knife fight scene is pretty impressive i reckon right up there with SPL and hunted and how the scene ended, is both original and mind blowing. there's also an awesome one take scene that made me go how the fark did they do it?!!! in my book, the koreans reign in the entertainment superiority department. beware, it's violent til no end.
what's next?
mother
i saw the devil [anticipating for its proper release]
poetry [Lee Chang-dong]
the housemaid

Its a beautifully stunning animation. I love how detailed everything was.
Johnny Depp did a hell of a job with the voice over.

Mean girls 2

My rating : 3.5/5

Its a good movie, if you watched the first movie and love it, then you will love this.

No connection with the first movie however, its still about the plastics

Good movie for both guys and girls. I gave it .5 because it didnt have lindsay lohan in it and the main protagonist is a girl from camp rock 1 & 2.

Hotel Rwanda [2004]

i never heard about this movie, not until recently. had multiple nominations for Oscar 2004.

basically had same theme like Schindler's List. a hotel manager bribing numbers of political figure and military top personnel in order to save human lives during Rwandan Genocide in 1990s.

i think the 1st hour are very good, but seem flatten in 2nd hour. 8/10.

Sucker Punch (2011)

Mr. Zack Snyder makes me squirm...

He pushes my movie viewing comfort zone into directions I'm usually don't want to go.

So much so that I have to watch the scene even when I don't want to!!!

He did it, in 300. He did it in Watchmen. He does it in Sucker Punch

I did NOT read ANYTHING to do with this movie.

I'd read 300, when it was first published. I'd read Watchmen about 2 - 3 years after it was first published.

I avoided anything Sucker Punch like the plague because Mr. Zack Snyder makes me squirm...

I didn't know what to expect and the movie hit me like a runaway FREIGHT TRAIN!!!!

The visual! THE MUSIC!!!

Everything and ANYTHING to do with action, fantasy movie and video games, is reintroduce here, only Mr. Zack Snyder does it ON CRACK!!!

Lord of the Ring, I-Robot, Manga Anime, doesn't matter, he marinate them in crank and puts them in the movie and it IS AWESOME.

I finish watching this at 8:30 pm and I'm STILL processing the movie... in my mind... too much information... information overload... does not compute, DOES NOT COMPUTE... ERROR! ERROR!!!!!!

Inland Empire [2006]

this is the only 2nd film David Lynch i watched, after Mulholland Drive (which i really love it)..

i read a lot of +ve reviews, so i expect a cracking film. and its really cracking my head.. its a long watch (nearly 3 hrs), non linear. i think i barely understand anything, except for the last 30minutes.

this arent stuff for everyone. i cant even decide whether i love it, or hate it. but this is a stuff that i love to re-watch it again sometime, only to understand it..

I sincerely think that David Lynch is somewhat mentally insane. And you have to be on that level of insanity to understand his works.

maybe (ive only watched 2 of his works)..

but i love Muholland Drive, very love it. maybe this movie arent complex enough, still within of my level, my grasp of understanding. though there's much interpretation about the film.

The Eagle (2011)

Wow, no one had reviewed this yet??

First thing first, this is NOT Gladiator (2000) nor is it Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Rome TV Series.

For lacking a better word, it has an overly more "independent" production feel to it!

Story is passable, and the weakness of the movie seem to fall on the shoulder of Channing Tatum.

The character needs way more acting chops then what is produced by Channing Tatum!!

The highlight though is Jamie Bell!

His "I can kill you with a stare" (otherwise know as "gosh I'm very constipated") look, works well here.

In a nut shell, this is a buddy movie (bromance??) and there isn't much chemistry between the two (Jamie Bell and Evan Parke had WAY more chemistry (King Kong 2005) then he and Channing have in this movie)!!

In Gladiator, what Maximus (Russell Crowe) fought for was VERY apparent to the audience, here not so...

A slightly above average movie

watched (and re-watched) some of the 90s last night (and nights before)

Leon: The Professional [1994]
fancy 13 year old Natalie Portman? wub.gif damn, she's very talented (and proven today). the girl have odd love relationship with cold looking hitman (Jean Reno) and looking for vengeance against corrupted policeman (Gary Oldman).
love it, very good movie. never heard about this until recently.

The Silence of the Lambs [1991]
watched it in my teen days, and im really appreciate it this time. Anthony Hopkins was awesome.
shame the sequels /prequel are totally disappointing.

The Usual Suspects [1995]
re-watched it. its good for 2nd time. always like Kevin Spacey as antagonist /villain.

The Big Lebowski [1998]
it supposed to be a comedy. its OK at few times, but im not really enjoy it.

try watching 'raising arizona' follow with FARGO and probably they would shed some light on how you see BL.

manhunter is THE prequel and hannibal is a tad underrated. i think Julianne Moore fits the more mature fbi Clarice

On Usual Suspects, the revelation in the end is still one of the best for me in this whole world. biggrin.gif

not watch Manhunter yet. i normally didnt have much desire to watch 80s and early movies for some reasons, except few exceptions.

the prequels i mentioned are Red Dragon and Hannibal Rising. both are very disappointing. Hannibal are OK. i prefer Jodie Foster as Clarice, but i think Julianne Moore did OK.

The Silence of the Lambs has one of the most jaw dropping sequences I've ever seen in a movie- namely the bit where Hannibal escapes. Everything apart from that could be shit and it would still be worth watching for that scene alone. As it is everything else is bloody brilliant too which makes it one of the all time greats.

I need to watch Hannibal again but I remember liking it quite a bit. Red dragon is very good too though it does play it very safe. Manhunter was good as well. Can't top Lambs though.
