4.7gb is a time consumed of downloading, the good are under a hood of a DVD, you'll get KDE, Gnome and other.. offline dependencies, thousands of apps...

Yes you can at different installation of partition, or run it within the same OS but you'll find tonnes of 2 native files of KDE and Gnome under the same root. To get run either KDE or gnome, logout and choose what desktop you want and login again but it will be a really messy desktop. The new openSUSE 11.4 will be launch this March, better wait for that as today they are at Milestone 5 level, the 6 will ne the final version.

No longer LMDE, showing Julia a way back to her palace. I wish to stay longer with LMDE do to it's rolling release which we do save our time from downloading new iso for each new release. And openSUSE is following suit as the developers are working on a project called Tumbleweed http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project...1/msg00206.html started with this coming 11.4, openSUSE is going to introduce the rolling release distribution.

Sharing is caring time laugh.gif

Ive discover a way to change the login background , icons on the login background and theme of the login background for Maverick . (Coz gdm2setup is not compatible anymore with Maverick)

Snapshot : (Taken with Cybershot instead , cant print-screen sweat.gif)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Customized it with a Faenza Variants Cupertino icon + elementary Theme and even Compiz's wobbly windows

Ive even changed the font setting (making it smaller) and changed the cursors to black instead of default white

Background can be changed using this method too nod.gif

All you need to do is juz type this command @ Terminal :

CODE
sudo cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow

Then logout and tweak from there

Then login again and type :

CODE
sudo rm /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop

This will prevent the Appearance app from starting off everytime you login into your Ubuntu nod.gif

*Dun forget to copy your background to this folder if u wanna change the login background

CODE
~/usr/share/backgrounds

Tested on Ubuntu Maverick 10.10

Might work on any os which is based on Ubuntu 10.10 nod.gif Test @ ur own risk laugh.gif

all gui, with no text... but if you want to look like a hacker  tongue.gif  you can always enable the text mode to appear by removing any vga=0x317 word at kernel parameter. In December every year, the GRUB will change itself into pic of penguins with santa claus hat playing with the snow all over the screen. Now January, no longer santa penguin.

I don't know if openSUSE is using plymouth as Ubuntu does, openSUSE is using legacy GRUB opposed to GRUB2 by Mint. Plymouth is not working against LMDE if I am not mistaken.

Hey guys,

On a totally different topic (sorry for derailing thread), has anybody heard of a way to push installations to Windows computers over the domain using a Linux server?

My google-fu skills have failed me in this and I'm not sure if its possible.

As an apology for the derailment, an XKCD comic

Tumblr got also but it didn get update for bout few months

Facebook ~ Tweetdeck can solve that but Hotot cant support facebook (they say sumting bout it which i cant remember)

Why i didn use Tweetdeck ? Uses alot of RAMS rclxub.gif

Maybe you can try Tweetdeck for Chrome (installable through App Store)

Waiting for the new Gwibber , hope it doesnt disappoint me
