Yeah , ive installed KDE in my Ubuntu before , my Gnome bcome KDE like , n it was --- YUCK = =

KDE is kinda abit *bling bling* type and some say its hard to use , might wanna get used to it shocking.gif

Huh? I don't think installing KDE will make your GNOME became like KDE. I've tried myself and the GNOME stays the same. And I think customizing in KDE is way easier, because that's the main reason why they made KDE, to make it simple, easy and very customizable.

Sharing is caring time   laugh.gif

Ive discover a way to change the login background , icons on the login background and theme of the login background for Maverick . (Coz gdm2setup is not compatible anymore with Maverick)

Snapshot : (Taken with Cybershot instead , cant print-screen  sweat.gif)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Customized it with a Faenza Variants Cupertino icon + elementary Theme and even Compiz's wobbly windows

Ive even changed the font setting (making it smaller) and changed the cursors to black instead of default white

Background can be changed using this method too  nod.gif

All you need to do is juz type this command @ Terminal :

CODE
sudo cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow

Then logout and tweak from there

Then login again and type :

CODE
sudo rm /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop

This will prevent the Appearance app from starting off everytime you login into your Ubuntu  nod.gif

*Dun forget to copy your background to this folder if u wanna change the login background
CODE
~/usr/share/backgrounds

Tested on Ubuntu Maverick 10.10

Might work on any os which is based on Ubuntu 10.10  nod.gif  Test @ ur own risk  laugh.gif

Lol may I ask you something? Did you discover this on your own or you read an article or post about this somewhere. It's better if you give us the link to the source page if you read it from an article or something like that. biggrin.gif

Recently I salvage 2 unit old computer Dell PowerEdge with Pentium 4 running at 2.4GHz, 40GB hard disk and 512MB RAM. Somehow the hard disk was install with Linux but I don't know what version because it stop half way and hang. The funny thing is when I try to format using Ubuntu and it fail and Window XP SP2 doesn't delete the partition either. Is it possible that Linux can prevent the hard disk from being format or partition being delete or is it that the hard disk already konk? I just want to reuse the computer again and install and test other Distros. Appreciate to those who help.

Can't be 2 at the same time and having the same problem. What are the odds? I can't even format from a different computer. It show a series of text and it hang. The last message was a Kernel panic. I hope there is a solution to this. Anyone can help? Thanks in advance.

Remove hard disks from computers and move very powerful magnet up and down the hard drive in slow yet purposeful manner...................... please don't do that... im joking.

But seriously, just remove the drives and format them by attaching them to a different computer. Should not be an issue.

anyway to repair "broken" theme in Ubuntu 10.10 or Linux Mint 10? Coz earlier there's unexpected power outage and my battery isn't plugged in..

When I turned the computer on..the theme became like "haywire"..no matter how many times I changed the themes, it won't change :/
