@G-17, heres the output of cpufreq-info

Does this in the terminal give you anything? (eg: performance, ondemand..etc)
CODE
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

...and the same for the other core
CODE
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor

if the answer for both is "ondemand", then there's not much you can do, since it's scaling correctly.

What kernel does LMDE currently use? If I remember correctly, Debian Testing is still frozen on the 2.6.32 kernel until Squeeze gets officially released. I remember there being some temperature issues on certain Core2Duo and Core2Quad processors with version 2.6.32-5
*
both gives "ondemand" output...
currently i'm not using debian squeeze repo, i'm using sid's repo...
and original kernel that came with sid's update also gave me current temp.. so i thought maybe its kernel issue, so i change to liquorix kernel, which is 2.6.36-2.dmz.5-liquorix-686 but temp still spiking rclxub.gif

AFAIK, OpenOffice is kind of dead and LibreOffice, a fork of OpenOffice by Google, may has a better compatibility with MS Office, since it's development is active.

is it really dead.. today just received another updates from OO, now i got 3.2.1-11 on my lmde.. and i think OO now is much, much better compared to 2-3 month back. back then it would lag alot, its splash screen on startup seems forever.. now that splash just below 3sec, really fast. and no more lag issue thumbup.gif

You need hit return only if your gconf-editor starts at another folder  nod.gif  If its in default and not displaying any open folder , return key can be skipped
