mine one are like this / - 10GB, or more, depending on you if you wanted to install more stuff later on /swap - same size like your physical ram, or around that /home - up to you, your "personal" storage area and other /tmp, etc..but not really necessary much, unless you got much disk space to spare

No no no, 1 partition, and the script will do the other partition itself based on the partition size, inside of that partition. This post has been edited by -Hzu-: Dec 31 2010, 07:05 PM

I think it's best to do automatic partitioning.

Up to the users I guess, I prefer manual since I know what I'm doing and can actually setup the partition you wanted instead of letting it go automatically

When something isn't enough and errors keep coming, you blame the distro.

Eh, you can do that? I thought swap partition is a must. D: I have two partitions for Ubuntu home and root. For Fedora, I use only one partition. But creating a separate partition for home dir is a good idea. Comes handy when something goes wrong with your OS.

If you think your 2GB is enough, think again. QUOTE(Nick Piggin) Well it is a magical property of swap space, because extra RAM doesn't allow you to replace unused memory with often used memory. The theory holds true no matter how much RAM you have. Swap can improve performance. It can be trivially demonstrated. QUOTE(Rik van Riel) the speed of hard disks doesn't grow anywhere near as fast as the size of memory and applications. This means that over the last years, swapping in any particular application has gotten SLOWER than it used to be ... This means that even though the VM is way smarter than it used to be, the visibility of any wrong decision has increased. http://kerneltrap.org/node/3202

QUOTE(wanfaris @ Dec 31 2010, 07:28 PM) ok,thx 4 ur info... so,how much i've spend to use as swap partiton?? Usually you need to double the number of your RAM, i.e., 2GB RAM = 4GB Swap. If I'm not mistaken though.

Sometimes firefox and flash becomes stupid and eats all my ram, same with nautilus (probably nautilus-elementary's fault, iunno). I just create a partition of 4GB just in case and set to use the swap when the ram used is about 60%.
