You can use 'sudo' since you're in ubuntu. If you prefer GUI, you can use `gksudo <command>`. For example, to move some pictures to root-owned dir, you can use nautilus as root by hitting Alt+F2 to open the run dialog and typing inok...thx all... Added on December 31, 2010, 7:42 pm yes yes, thats truly right...very annoying CODE gksudo nautilus and insert your password. But running as root, you need to be extra careful |

QUOTE(wanfaris @ Dec 31 2010, 07:56 PM) QUOTE Example Scenarios Low RAM and low disk space With 512 MB RAM and 30 GB hard disk, use 512 MB for swap since RAM is very low. Low RAM and high disk space With 512 MB RAM and 100 GB hard disk, use 1 GB for swap since RAM is very low and hard disk space is in plenty. High RAM and low disk space With 2 GB RAM and 30 GB hard disk, use 1 GB for swap since hard disk space is very low. High RAM and high disk space With 2 GB RAM and 100 GB hard disk, use 2 GB for swap since hard disk space is plentiful. suit urself and set ur swappiness around 10 or 20 |

lol. u using linux mint now? use temporary change to find best value.
temporary change (will set to default value when u reboot) 1. open terminal and type 'sudo sysctl vm.swappiness=10' permanent change 1. open terminal 2. type 'sudo gedit /etc/sysctl.conf' 3. press 'ctrl+f' and search for 'vm.swappiness' 4. change the value to vm.swappiness=10. if it doesn't exist, just put the code at the end of the file 'vm.swappiness=10' 5. reboot |
