just dont delete ur original kernel.. after install liquorix kernel, update ur grub.
when something goes wrong with ur machine when trying to boot with liquorix, ur original kernel is still in grub menu rite even me who already use liquorix for almost two month dont delete my original kernel.. later on when something goes wrong with liquorix kernel update, i still had my original kernel as backup This post has been edited by axxer: Dec 30 2010, 04:37 AM |

QUOTE(powerwoot @ Dec 30 2010, 06:54 AM) O_O Yes, me is crying tears of joy right now ... sniff. Finally I see a M'sian using tiling!! ... Wheee!!! (tbh, there are a few other M'sians in the Arch forum using tiling as well... lol) @Acid_RuleZz I seen elinks/links2, cplay and vim, but what is the file manager? Is it Midnight Commander or something else (vifm, maybe)? If it is MC, go to your ~/.mc, open your ini file, delete its contents and and copy-pasta-lasagna this inside. http://ompldr.org/vNnJ6MA After that, mc will use your terminal BG color and other .Xdefaults values. Alternatively, you should check out Ranger = https://github.com/hut/ranger Probably not in your repos (unless you're using Arch or know how to pull via Github), so you'll have to download the source from that page and build it yourself (I assume you know how) ... if you do decide to install it, make sure you have libx11-dev and ncurses-runtime/libcurses5-runtime installed (from your repos). Added on December 30, 2010, 7:54 am QUOTE(cocooh @ Dec 30 2010, 05:05 AM) Liquorix is basically a rebuild of the famous Zen kernel plus some additional patches and harder preemption enabled. It's one of the better kernels around, though it's mainly for Debian. In terms of performance, the Liquorix and Aptosid-SLH kernels are some of the fastest around on Debian-based systems... only way you can beat them is if you compile your own custom kernel. The dev, Damentz (his gf is Malaysian, btw) works hard trying to ensure stability and compatibility (seriously, his skills are top-notch), but I'm still not 100% sure it can work on all Ubuntu setups. Acid_Rulez may have succeeded, but I still say be very careful not to trash you Ubuntu generic kernel. This post has been edited by G-17: Dec 30 2010, 07:55 AM |
