QUOTE(axxer @ Dec 30 2010, 01:21 PM) when u install liquorix thru synaptic or apt-get, it will refresh ur grub automatically.. and when u reboot it wiil appear in grub selection yea, I know it supposed to select the line in GRUB, but the things is I am using openSUSE's GRUB to manage the booting, being a legacy GRUB as opposed to GRUB2 used by LMDE I need to get the correct path of correct kernel and put it manually in openSUSE bootloader config. Unless I am installing back the LMDE's GRUB to make the selection. ayakkk... I hate playing with GRUB |

Unless you want to do some developing/use programs which requires the kernel headers, you only the kernel's image.

Well, just install both of them then. BTW, "dmz" refers to the kernel compiler, Damenz.

I think the headers are just extras but if the kernel requires it, then you need to install it.

ok, I got this problem now.
After installed the kernel, ubuntu won't boot, just no disk activity with the bootlogo moving only. Pressed ESC and see the "setting up fstab" in background...nothing else. In the end still using the same "ol'" kernel :/ ...anyone facing these problem before? |

try using earlier version of liquorix..
its not like liqurix wont work at all with ubuntu http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1588760 or if u just simply want bleeding edge ubuntu kernel http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ This post has been edited by axxer: Dec 30 2010, 07:14 PM |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Dec 30 2010, 07:37 PM) i can't install LMDE. keep stucked at copying file when installing when on kernel 2.6.35-24 which is the "default" kernel for ubuntu now, it running fine. Once I'm using 2.6.36 stable or above, it will shows "setting up fstab" during boot, and nothing else, no activities.@GameSky did you check your fstab setting? since u said it stucked at "setting up fstab" It would be funny if my fstab settings are corrupted, else the 2.6.35-24 won't boot either, but it can, tho |
