AFAIK, OpenOffice is kind of dead and LibreOffice, a fork of OpenOffice by Google, may has a better compatibility with MS Office, since it's development is active.

from what I read...it seems openoffice developers aren't happy with the oracle management.. :/

is it really dead.. today just received another updates from OO, now i got 3.2.1-11 on my lmde.. and i think OO now is much, much better compared to 2-3 month back. back then it would lag alot, its splash screen on startup seems forever.. now that splash just below 3sec, really fast. and no more lag issue thumbup.gif

How to change GNOME clock applet theme

1.Press ALt+F2

2.Type: gconf-editor

3.Hit return

4.Navigate to “Apps > Panel > Applets > Clock_Screen* > Prefs”

(* this may be under a different name, just look for the applet that has the correct ‘prefs’ folder)

5.Double-click on the ‘Format’ value. Change it to ‘custom’.

6.Double click on the ‘Custom Format’ field and paste in the code from one of the styles below.

7.Hit return once again and enjoy!

Use any font installed on your system by changing the font on the codes from ‘ubuntu’ to that of your choice (Sans, DroidSans, etc).

Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition users can also tweak Indicator-datetime by following the instructions here .
