guys,

is it possible to install LMDE into portable HDD?
I ran "Install Linux Mint" but ntg happened when it open gparted. sweat.gif

gparted error code from terminal

well, just kill it. Now this is the time we try something different other than ubuntu. Long term relationship with ubuntu is not good for your health. Still Mint 10 is a forked version of Maverick, it won't too hard for you to handle they used the same the commands such as apt-get or ppa.

Mint is working at fullest out of the box, you have the working restricted multimedia codecs i.e flash, libdvdcss, w32codecs, adobe... without any hassle to find link or additional ppa to get them to work.

I wonder why you guys are installing many repos, PPAs, etc. I only installed 2 external repos, adobe repos and rpmfusion, no more, everything I need is there, if not, I'll search for an RPM or compile it from the source code. Simple as that.

Always having usb/cd/dvd live cd..since it's so useful...like retrieving data from dead winbooze or clean virus out of it laugh.gif

Happens a lot to my friend's laptop...can generate some "income" also brows.gif

To feel the true experiences of distro, am prefer to hard installed it rather than use any of these live media, usb, virtual etc etc . Off course we need bigger capacity of hd.

Bored with LMDE, just change to Mint 10. as usual, Wlan driver problem. BCM saks!!!
already installed ubuntu 10 before for colleague with same notebook model . same solution applied.
Might back to LMDE later.

AFAIK, OpenOffice is kind of dead and LibreOffice, a fork of OpenOffice by Google, may has a better compatibility with MS Office, since it's development is active.
