The poll is messed up. "I will stop subscribing Streamyx" is actually also a NO.

QUOTE(mylinear @ Dec 18 2010, 02:12 AM) Yes, and let me also say this. Say for example the result is everyone agrees to a data transfer limit. Then the next survey will be focused on that. And they give you a choice of 5Gb, 15GB or 20GB . Then what? You will say, ok let's just take the highest one since they all seem low anyway and so vote for 20GB. Example only. Yea thanks for clarification. Maybe I just want this problem to be solved as quickly as possible.IWO, they can dictate how the outcome is going to be according to what the outcome they would like to have. Mainly because there is no further info, no way to get answers, no way to debate anything. Look at the survy options again. Take for example: Limited Bandwidth like UniFi VIP packages ( 60GB per month ) Was it just MX510 who put 60GB to show as an example of how it is for Unifi? Or is it really 60GB? For which package? 1Mb? 2Mb? 4Mb? Or for everyone irrespective of package? How can you agree to data transfer limits when you are not told what they would be? How can you agree to contention ratio when you do not know what the ratio will be and even if you do, how exactly will the contention be resolved and bandwidth distributed? There is not enough info or answers. You must have that to make an informed decision. |

QUOTE(mylinear @ Dec 18 2010, 02:02 AM) andrew9292, did you attend the meeting? Nope i wasnt at any meeting, except last year's...Maybe before it was 10% Streamyx heavy users affecting 90% Streamyx other users, but now maybe it is 90% Unifi users affecting all Streamyx users... I agree that getting user feedback is a good way, but not like this. First of all, how many Streamyx users will read this thread and participate out of all the total users? Come on, TM has the list of all its users. A web page set up for a survey by them or an email sent out to all the users is the way. They cannot do that?? I still say they are just using users to get to other users. And yes i agree with that too. There has to be more info given to the FUP they are devicing, if they want us to save their bandwidth for the benefit of all, we need to know what to save on! And also there is just too many conditions to take into account... like my example above of 1 streamyx account doesnt equate to 1 streamyx user (which puts the hard cap on international links extremely ridiculous especially for anything lower than 5mbps, a hard cap on the line overall is even more ridiculous) even if household of 5 online users do not pirate the internet, it will easily reach their quotas... so a hard cap is a no-no. i would lean on much deeper traffic management such as by protocol, but more importantly by the source then file extention. but then again, this requires their NOC to be monitoring 24/7/365 on the network, to discover new protocols and new sources, which should be throttled, and which should be excluded. which is legit and which isnt and this (if they really put resouces into doing it) might end up costing as much as buying more bandwidth QUOTE(takercena @ Dec 18 2010, 02:07 AM) Hopefully asapThis post has been edited by andrew9292: Dec 18 2010, 02:24 AM |

I'm not working for TM
1. They are currently studying on this issue ( I definitely will not agree with Volumed Based ) not fair for users only 1 wired broadband and we have no choices . Feel free to throttled p2p traffic for UniFi and Streamyx much more better. 2. The FUP is not final yet ( comments and critics will be presented to TM ) 3. A new site will be setup for users to login and check ur current bandwidth usage to educate them ( In progress by TM ) p/s: It will be launch next year for the new FUP I'm a free journalist This post has been edited by MX510: Dec 18 2010, 02:25 AM |

QUOTE(automan5891 @ Dec 18 2010, 02:14 AM) I agree. Also the question of the poll should only have a Yes or No option. At least as a first survey. Then if Yes is the result, go further with how to change etc. The current options are not mutually exclusive.Even for a Yes or No option only, a lot more info is needed to determine a Yes or No answer. I will say the following on the assumption that this is a survey from TM which MX510 is just repeating and posting here. I hope TM is reading this thread. Your survey is just as messed up as the capping you tried to implement a few weeks ago. I suggest you pull this survey immediately and go refine and relax it first. |

I signed up for an unlimited service. I did not sign up for some BS fair usage policy to be tacked on at a later date.
So I guess that is a "hell, no!" for me then. |

Please note that we are not against you or anything as we know you are passing on the news from TM. But really, if TM wants you or others to let users know anythiing, we must first know what happened at the meeting or what was said or the plans etc etc etc. Then only talk about a survey. Users must not just be asked to vote on a survey without sufficient info. Again, not your fault, TM's fault. For example, if TM said they will do a research of their own first, we don't even need this survey. We could just discuss what was said at the meeting as some news for all users. |
