Hi,

May i know is that true that work in petroleum field especially worker at platform can harm healthy...i'm curious bcoz many people said that...

i still study and i'm looking into work in petroleum field as reservoir engineeri in future...
*
No, its the safety risk that is the factor here. The platform may caught in fire, the structure may collapse due earthquake, and many other reasons. As an engineer you wont be involved directly in handling the equipments although there is a need to be on site. I think its a good subject to study, in fact the high pay upon graduating , if you manage to get job related to that field in service or operating companies, can be a good motivation for your career. But of course, you will need to have genuine interest in that subject before other considerations are taken into account.

If you have a Petroelum Geoscience degree (which Uni by the way because not many Uni will have a specific Petroleum Geoscience degree, most uni have Geology/Geophysics degree), then you should be marketable. Most operators will want to hear from you.

Hi guys,

MMHE Pasir Gudang and Kuala Lumpur now open 76 new posts with more than 150 Vacancies Available. Check this out and Good Luck ya.
That's quite a large number of posts to fill. Is this a new production site or the expansion of an existing one ? I didn't manage to get any information on their website.

Anyone care to share any news about this ?

Mmhe will always have vacancies... The turnover rate is quite high there... fresh grads goes there to get training/exposure and move on to singapore yards, older guys add their creds there and went to high paying consultants/big international companies... Those who stayed long usually already settled down, bought homes or from around johor...
Not that the place is a bad place to work... Is just that when people went in there, its kinda like eyes opener that there are better places outside...

Last time people always said its because of the low salaries... But they have raise it few years ago so i guess its not the case... maybe not as high as what is offered in sg, but good enough for this side of the causeway..

One thing to note is, it is a very big company, with almost 300-500 execs or engineers at a time, it will be quite hard to get promoted. I know few guys who only get promoted one grade after 5-6 years, but there also exceptionals who got promoted to project managers for the same period...
I guess Its either you need to be very good at your job, or you are a expert in sucking up...

Thanks for sharing. I suppose that every company has its good and bad qualities. I'm looking to get into the industry as a fresh graduate, so I'm not really going to be very picky when it comes to opportunities.

one think to note if u consider working in pasir gudang.

the environment there is really bad.

u can practically smell the pollutants through the air u're breathing.

not so much regulations enforcement.

chemical plant, palm oil plant, fertilizer plant, some more heavy construction...

I believe he is mainly responsible for reviewing footage recorded during pipeline inspection. The thing to look for is pipeline anomaly such as freespan, scour, weightcoat damage etc. And using that data, I reckon he will generate a profile for that particular pipeline so that it can be accessed during the next inspection campaign.

Sounds complicated right? hehe..
Just guessing hmm.gif
