Dear forumer,

I got an offer (office desk bound job) from a reputable OnG company last Dec 2011. 1 normal clause of any offer letter i.e. the offer is subject to medical clearance. I have some medical issues which i understand it will subject to their discretion to accept me based on the medical report produced. My concern is the HR takes too long just to process the issue.

1.Medical checkup > 2.not satisfy=my specialist report > 3.not satisfy=independent specialist > further evaluation > clearance.

Now at the process 3, don't know how long more cry.gif

Note: Current job still ok and manageable, but the offer will be a stepping stone for better future rclxms.gif

What would you do ????

1. Continue play taichi with the HR;

2. Find out the prospect boss (who i report to) and call/discuss;

3. Outright discard properly the offer, acceptance offer has been signed.

4. Option 1 & 2

Need some idea....

Thanks

Any ideas which famous (99% heard before) oil and gas company that hired recruitment company for talent scout? hahhaa..
*
I've checked with my network in Petronas. It's definitely not Petronas because they don't hire agent to hire fresh grads or new entrants. I've a couple of girls who sent me PM because they didn't want to go to an interview without knowing what company is hiring .... sounds super fishy to me.

Just try my luck, no worries what in their mind coz i'm entry level only.
Furthermore my current works is not related to oil gas sector.
I'm not utm utp grad, not in super good result.
All I have only mech cert and super duper effort to get in this line. nod.gif  nod.gif  nod.gif

Petra Fabricator seem new to me, I'll check it. AMB located in Gebeng, so far 2-3 applications I send to them, look like my resume ending in shredder.heheh
Need your opinion bro about design engr to become field engineer. Is it possible? If yes, in what way?
*
Might not be possible, FE is more to process whereas design engineer is more to design. Two totally different job scope.

Hey guys..

I am a mechanical engineering student. And my strongest subjects are thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer. Other than that, I am good at analyzing data and I prefer indoor > outdoor job scope. So I am wondering what kind of position suits me the best. Please comment if u can. Thanks in advance. tongue.gif

Process Technologist, Field Analyst or Field Engineer.

oo...how about design to instrument engineer?
my mind said design focus to product details but IE more to process instrumentation which is working in bunch of process stuff.
saying these both position job scope of course different..

checked my mail today and got the reply for insep program.now that was fast, waiting for the interview date and etc.

welding inspection vs ndt ...wch is more relevant to ong??tho i think for my basic understanding of engineering both is in use in the industry since plenty of welding done for plants, vessels, oil rigs etc, and ndt wise the equipment, structures fabricated must be tested too.....a bit undecided now....

imho wi is better since u will probably end as a qa/qc engineer while ndt most likely u'll b as an inspector as for lvl 2 speaking of both course

position wise, qa/qc eng>ndt inspector

as if u afford to take both that is better but since it is insep program u can only choose 1 tongue.gif

It depends on what kind of design, if you involve in instrumentation design, there is no problem for you to be an instrument engineer. smile.gif

I will reckon you to be welding inspector/engineer, nowadays it is very hard to get them compared to NDT inspectors (UT, RT, MPI and etc).

W.I are usually QA/QC and with enough experience usually they are the most suitable people to become QA/QC Engineers.

Basically a W.I needs to know everything about the welding process including how to repair it while the NDT guys just need to know the defect and weld profile.

Hello everyone,

This thread is now more than 2750 posts, way more than the 2500 limit for 1 version.

Maybe some of the senior guys like Azraeil, Carloz28 or Wildchai (or any other regulars) might be interested in creating Oil & Gas Career V3 ? smile.gif
