got a question here......if I were to sign up online today, would I be able to choose the last 4 number through their website?

also can i choose the date around 15th of March through the website for them to install?
*
yes, just like i did for last 4 digits for phone.

if you register already u can chose the date you want it to be installed, so if you register before the 15th u get waved installation + 1 month free . after that just find the date you want to install . unless they limit you to install for example the date for appointment is grey/ no red undelined dates.

thats what i think anyway.

TM installed my Unifi last Saturday (5/2/2011). I just came to know that they gonna charge me the RM200 installation fee (break into 4 months bill). When I check with their CS, they said that my application received on the 14 Jan, hence I don't entitle for the promotion free installation fee.

Any idea how I could push TM to waive the fee? I was told by the reseller that there is no installation fee, but that was all in verbal.

I am staying in Ampang and to my surprise, there's no UNIFI even until today. I can't believe a town just next to KL city centre still does not have UNIFI.

You just have to wait for it, I guess. My place to KLCC is just 5 mins. And it was only available late last year.

Did you try resetting your orange dlink router? Have you tried connecting directly with your orange router via LAN cable?
*

configuration should be easy. Here a good step by step how to setup reference site --- http://unifi.athena.my/mikrotik_rb250gs.html

Thanks. But with rb250gs, I am not able to connect directly from it with Ethernet cable right? Need to go thru a wireless router, right?

Looks like you need a RB750/G if you are to bypass the stock PPPoE dialed and router..

I am with RB750G for my gigabit network.

Should be 2 months of subscription fees. That's all. Meaning RM149 + RM149.

That is correct. It is more like a bridge. You will still need a router to dial in PPPoE.

Try to call the customer service. I am very much sure that they could help you to choose the number. At least, they did with me. My online registration failed, their CS help me to register and choose my preferred number.

Up to you. But with RB750G, you will still need at least an AP for your WLAN connections.

Yes. For more info, you can go to klseet web. Lots of info there.

Sorry for being so long winded.

Let's just cut it short. If I use RB250GS + TP-link TL WR941ND. Will it work?

Sorry for being so long winded.

User is free to choose and use their own prefer/existing router (not ADSL+router device), just need to setup PPPoE (like Streamyx). Currently, I'm using aztech wl830rt4, can I use it back? Because I'm not sure whether if mine is ADSL+ router. And, for the wireless USB adapter which one do u recommend?
*
Okay, if I'm reading this right.

You want to use any router(PPPoE capable) to totally replace TM DIR-615 right? If that is the case, you might want to check Rizvan Web for router compatibilities. There, you will see a list of routers which can completely replace TM's.

But, if you have Mikrotik RB250GS, you will need any router that is PPPoE capable to dial into Unifi service. On the setup and everything, you can always refer to both klseet and rizvan's guide.

Yes. But you can use TL-WR841ND directly. Without that Mikrotik, if I am not mistaken.

Yes. If you are only using wired LAN, can go for only the MikroTik RB750/750G, don't need another router. But the DIR615 wired LAN is usually OK too.

But I smell something fishy here or maybe I'm newbie to this. TP-Link TL-WR841N costs only RM90++ while Mikrotik RB250GS also needs RM160++. Therefore, why don't everyone head for the 841 instead?

Features of course.

That TP-Link TL-WR841N/ND has a firmware that fixed those vlan tagging while Mikrotik, you can play around with the settings.

In summary,

WR841N/ND = Fixed feature on the VLAN tagging.

RB250GS = You can play around with VLAN and other features.

But if you wanna go for Mikrotik, I would suggest RB750/RB750G. Am using that. Works like a charm. And used my old Linksys WRT54GL as an AP.

Oh, previously, RB250GS was discovered first that is compatible with Unifi.

WR841N/ND came later. Hence, the choice. I guess, people will go for TP-Link now.
