btw, its macritchie or bukit timah? or u girls plans to walk over?

I'm thinking of walking to Macritchie to Bukit Timah via the treetop walk. It will be too easy if just hike up bukit timah alone.

if all batang then its fine, if there're girls then i think better to rethink the plan... plan around 10km, or 2 hours trip... with lunch/breakfast+chatter should be around 5-6 hours already

u wanna stay in JB ar?? very very troublesome 1.... my friend stay in Sentosa and work in NUS, he start work 8am, he need to leave home at 5:30am. you need to take 170 to Kranji, then from Kranji take MRT to Clementi, from Clementi, there is a shuttle bus to NUS (according to him, i never tried). if u stay in JB, i suggest that u buy a motorbike and ride a bike better, save a lot of time.

PS : JB bus service sux... they like to wait for passengers at the bus stop... i tried once, the stupid driver waited for 30 mins at the bus stop before he jalan.

I'd suggest you stay in Sg and use the time you'd save on travelling to think and then execute a plan on improving your prospects for a bigger job or a promotion. One solid upgrade and you'd more than earn back the difference in living costs.

Need some help from you guys. Our CEO and CFO are coming to SG and I need to take them on a "city excursion" to fill 3 hours after lunch, before taking them back to the hotel to prepare for dinner.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Something with local flavour but preferably air conditioned, can drive to doorstep ie. not too much walking. It's mid afternoon after all and they will be somewhat jet-lagged.

Tentatively, my thinking is:

- Lunch at MBS
- Casino walkthru
- 1 Activity (current candidates include Artscience museum at Marina Bay, Flyer, River Cruise, Duck Tour... but the latter 2 no aircond!)... looking for more options from you guys.
- Singapore Sling at Long Bar, Raffles Hotel
- If time permits, drivethru Chinatown and Little India on the way back to hotel.

Appreciate any suggestions you have. If there's a superb idea that I can actually use, dinner's on me. Thanks very much.

go ktv for 3 hrs. time flies very fast and they'llbe very very heppy.

seantang: duck tour route is just nice as compare to the longer hippo route. It highlight special landmarks of SG and include a view to the CBD area as well. Buy this and you have a few extra plan B activities http://www.ducktours.com.sg/sp.php There is a ferrari tour starting from the flyer as well, not too sure about its route.

The dempsey hill have a few art gallery if they like art pieces.

Nokia Convert: 18/3 I have seminar to attend. Let me know the next time you go. I am interested.

My routine is very similar to you.

I wake up @6.00am daily and work till 5pm. Reach jurong point by 6.00pm. Transportation is provided by my company's bus so I can sleep on the bus lol.

I think the char kuay teow stall outside of jurong point (in between mrt and jp) is quite good leh. The standard can easily rival those found in KL but nowhere near the standard of Penang's one.

As for cheap western food, I always love to eat at Botak Jones in Clementi. One big plate of burger with 2 side dishes only cost me $8.50
*
I tried the char kuey teow.. Not bad, but still Penang's is still the best~!!!

But the indon restaurant very pricey eh for a low income engineer like me. I only eat there once a month.

Now mostly surviving on hawker food =.=

I never try that yet.

with the levy hiking recently & quota on S-pass, my comp. is also having the issue...
local singaporeans is very very difficult to get to do those physical intensive labour tasks in our plants. we mostly employ china/india/bangla for physical intensive tasks...
http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...es/default.aspx

A Work Permit (WP) is generally issued to foreign unskilled workers with a monthly basic salary of not more than $1,800.

The duration of a Work Permit is generally two years, subject to the validity of the worker’s passport, the Banker’s/Insurance Guarantee, and the worker’s employment period, whichever is shorter. The worker is only allowed to work for the employer and in the specified occupation.

Specific variants of Work Permits allow foreigners to work as domestic helpers, confinement nannies and performing artistes.

Any project name in Keppel for your gibraltar jackup rig ? Bxxx series ?

What is NDT ?
*
There is only one Key Gibraltar Jackup rig in keppel fels, currently under maintenance. Plus its under transocean and i believe its the only transocean rig in keppel fels.

You cant really miss it since it has the transocean logo prominently displayed on the rig itself.

Non-destructive testing.

if using Tuas 2nd link, car VEP SGD 20 per day + toll to & fro SGD6.40. total SGD 26.40.
every year free 11 or 10 VEP (cannot remember the exact free VEP per year).
you can find more from LTA --> http://www.lta.gov.sg/motoring_matters/ind...oring_guide.htm

*** To be honest, it is not worth working in singapore from my observation in term of $ with exception highly paid (SGD3.5k above) or company finance you with allowance or one is looking for international/oversea experience exposure or still single.

kalau tak da license, kita ambik license biggrin.gif... really cannot drive in SG la. unless you wanna get a Singapore registered car (even worst, you need to take SG license, get a guarantor if u wanna buy car). if u are driving a MY registered car in, you need to pay $20 VEP (weekdays if u enter or leave Singapore from 2am-5pm) and i assume that u taking woodlands, still need to pay $1.20 toll + RM2.90. if u take bike, only pay $4 VEP, that's it. no nid to take Singapore license, buy bike can get loan without guarantor. and it is common that a lot of Malaysian taking bike to work daily from JB (i am 1 of them). I got a car in JB as well. u will get 10 VEP free days every year. so use it wisely. the main reason for me to stay in JB is to enjoy a luxury life (so call luxury according to my Singaporean colleagues) because with my $2k salary, i can own a car, stay in a 3 rooms flat alone, got a bike, can go out makan makan... go back KL once in a while... but with $2k, if u wanna stay in SG, u will only stay in a room, take MRT, cannot go lepak etc etc.. Oh ya, if u are going from Woodlands to NUS, you need to cross 1 ERP at BKE. so u still need to add the BKE ERP fees (not sure how much).
