Please recommend cheapest 23" - 24" monitor. Prefer HDMI. Normal using only, thanks.

Dell ST2320L rm 499 from Biology, find his thread in Garage sale..
i think LG also got cheap 23 inch hdmi lcd too.. but i forgot the model.

from all review i have read, and advice from sifu2 in this thread, if you can, avoid Dell ST2320L if u have sharp eyes.. this one said to have poor color contrast.

Dell ST2420L
Dell ST2320L
Dell U2311H

among these, Dell U2311H will be the most recommended Monitor by you guys right? or the other 2 would be better?
Wanted to get Samsung BX2450 but didn't get approval from "sponsor" cry.gif
now budget is Rm600, hopefully want to get a 24" if possible.
Usage for Gaming, 3D work, Anime, Movies, etc... smile.gif

EDIT: most of you recommend the U2311H but it does not have HDMI and my laptop has the HDMI port so my question is
Will there be a big difference if i convert the ports from hdmi to DVI(example)??

Noob Question: Display port = HDMI?? Same port?

Hello, I wanted to change my T220 after using for 2 years. What LCD will you guys be recommending? Prefer 23"/24", mostly gaming and movie.

I understand that U2311H would be best recommended but will the relatively high response time affect my gaming performance? Budget will be around 700-800. Thanks in advance! smile.gif

Just got it today, tested, the color contrast is better than my laptop, but didnt meet my expectation, plus.. i tot this monitor is good enough for multimedia purpose, but guess what?
THE BACK LIGHT IS FLICKERING!!!! it will be ok if almost all the screen filled with bright window, background.. but when showing dark image, or just black background.. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......
that it.. my short noob review... one more thing... this monitor got serious light leak problem...
plus.. my new monitor come with 1 dead pixel... sigh...

It wouldn't affect your gaming as it's not that slow actually, most people will not notice the supposed slowness IRL

Colour reproduction, viewing angles, colour accuracy, contrast ratio, all these are better on the u2311h than the st2420l.If you value all these things then you know which is the better choice
If you convert HDMI form your laptop to DVI,there wouldn't be any degradation.

Guys, lets' say that a person so happen at lowyat and wanna buy monitor.
If there a way to identify what panel does a specific monitor used? or to say: whether it's using TN/VA panel? on the spot.

I think to identify on the spot is really difficult. VA models are offered by very few manufacturer such as NEC, Dell and HP and only a very few models too. Mostly they are made from TN panel.

For TN panel they can be identified by fast response times usually 5ms (despite some earlier models comes with 16ms) AND narrow viewing angles especially from below (read 160 degree to 170 degree). VA models usually slow in response time such as 8ms GtG or 16ms or sometimes 25ms. VA viewing angle also a bit narrower than TN (e.g 89 degree or such).
