hey guys, am planning to build a new rig, planning to go for a 27" LCD, my main purpose for this new rig is for watching videos/movies/shows.. any good recommendation on good 27" out there?

i'm eyeing the Samsung 27" LCD (P2770H HDMI), wondering if this is any good..

Dead pixels are pixels that are, well dead. They won't turn on so they'll look black all the time
Stuck pixels are pixels that are stuck displaying one colour all the time.

There's also the Viewsonic  VX2739WM for around RM1189+-.
Don't expect too much thought as these are still normal TN panel LCDs.
You can also get a full HD 32" TV for around RM1.4K,imo saving up for that would be better.

thanks for that, I've seen the viewsonic before and I personally prefer the samsung 1.

as for your recommendation on saving up for the full HD 32" tv, i was told by a friend that LCD TV does not offer as high a DPI as an LCD monitor would. and is therefore not recommended to be used as a computer monitor, any truth in this?

Well, the same can be said to the 27" LCDs that you're looking at too since their resolution is still just 1920x1080.LCD TVs with a res of 1366x768 is definitely unbearable personally, but ones with a res of 1920x1080 would be ok.Still, for movies a TV that doesn't use a TN panel is more preferable imo.

Does this mean, lcd tv does not use tn panel? I'd research more on this then.. Thanks alot for the tip.. Appreciate it

hi guys, after doing some researching, both online and in stores.. I've decided to follow some forumer's advise and go for LCD TV instead of LCD monitor to be used as my new rig's monitor..

can i get some personal reviews on this particular model?

1. Sony Bravia KDL-32EX400

in comparison with the samsung P2770H LCD monitor. appreciate ur replies. I know the obvious difference would be the size, but what else? is this LCD TV better in terms of other attributes?

I know for a fact that the sony bravia outputs 1920x1080 resolution as well.

lcd tv as a monitor only work best for movies and games. if u use as a workstation, browsing, reading n typing, lcd monitor 23-27" is preferable.

thanks for your response, the main purpose im building a new rig is actually for watching movies 1.. but on ur point that monitor 23-27" is preferable for other usage other than gaming and entertainment, why is that so ah? is it coz the screen is stretched too much?

do i need to take into consideration of my graphic card? does GTX460 suffice and supporting a screen size of 32"?

as long it could handle 1920x1080 resolution, i think there should be no problem

Yeah the gc can handle that resolution, =)

Sigh, seems like not many lyn-ers using this
Model as monitor.. Im going for this particular model because i can get a good price for it.. Planning to buy today already 1.. =( dilemma~~~
