Hi guys,
I am planning to get a Monitor, so far i have surveyed this 2 models within my budget(Below RM900)
Samsung BX2450 RM8**
Dell ST2420L RM609(online price)

I would like to get a 24" Monitor for Gaming, Movies, Animes, and some 3D work.
Other brands can consider. Preferably LED ones
Thanks

The U2311H i mentioned earlier would produce better, more accurate colours and has a wider viewing angle.
It's a 23" but with the money saved you can get something like a SSD. icon_idea.gif

Go for the U2311H la guys. You can't go wrong with an IPS that's so cheap.

Hmm.. thanks for the feedback. Seems like this monitor looks really good.. but it lacks HDMI.
For Monitors, HDMI and DVI Big difference if plug from GC? i know HDMI does make a big difference for LCD TVs.
hmm.gif

Saw the Samsung BX2450 today, love the design. But like you guys said, only the backlight is LED. IF pure LED Monitor, it'll be much better than most monitors?

EDIT: Hmm.. just watched a few review videos of U2311H, mostly says it is a very good monitor but not very good for gaming cause of the response time. hmm.gif

Dell ST2420L
Dell ST2320L
Dell U2311H

among these, Dell U2311H will be the most recommended Monitor by you guys right? or the other 2 would be better?
Wanted to get Samsung BX2450 but didn't get approval from "sponsor" cry.gif
now budget is Rm600, hopefully want to get a 24" if possible.
Usage for Gaming, 3D work, Anime, Movies, etc... smile.gif

EDIT: most of you recommend the U2311H but it does not have HDMI and my laptop has the HDMI port so my question is
Will there be a big difference if i convert the ports from hdmi to DVI(example)??

Noob Question: Display port = HDMI?? Same port?

Displayport(DP)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort
HDMI
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI
DVI
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

wikipedia is friend bro, learn how to use it la...  whistling.gif  whistling.gif
HDMI = DVI + audio
DP = new technology = replacing DVI n VGA BUT not HDMI

I did do a wiki search... i know what is HDMI and DVI...
i roughly read about what is DP but could not get what kind of devices are supported as i've not seen any port like that.

Colour reproduction, viewing angles, colour accuracy, contrast ratio, all these are better on the u2311h than the st2420l.If you value all these things then you know which is the better choice
If you convert HDMI form your laptop to DVI,there wouldn't be any degradation.

Hmm... I guess the decision is made. Thanks for the feedback..

It doesn't have HDMI,but it does support HDCP so if you use a converter you can still connect a HDMI Blu ray player/PS3 to it and play the media without any problems.

That's good to know!!!

I know HDMI > DVI > VGA
I got a question, my laptop supports HDMI port and VGA..
So my best option is using hdmi and convert to DVI to the monitor since the monitor does not have hdmi port...
I am still unfamiliar with the Display port, what kind of devices(new type of monitors?) support it as i've not seen this port before...

Some of the graphics card like ATI and NVidia Quadro already has Display Port, it's a revolution of DVI and the age and still strong VGA, read here to know more about this revolution.
And it's not the same as HDMI, neither will it replace but come along with HDMI. According to Wiki, major manufacturer will totally abandon DVI and VGA from 2015 so expect future graphics card with mostly HDMI and DP.

ok cool... Thanks a lot... now i get it...

Wohaa...  drool.gif  drool.gif , congrats, nice monitor, wanna trade with my ST2320L?  brows.gif  just joking  brows.gif
but come to think about it, why dell make a good monitor with ugly design? i mean, look at it, the Ultrasharp, all rectangle,90 degree sharp edges, remind me about my crappy 17inch lcd bought 5 years before..
and take a look to ST series.. nicely design.. perfect to cover up all these monitor flaw...

BTW, back to your question, HDMI and DVI qualiti is almost the same for me, hook up my xbox via hdmi, and dvi.. cant spot the difference beside the HDMI come with audio.... but if u ask me about VGA, uh well.. make sure ur laptop graphic driver is ok, for me, i having some backlight flicking issue with VGA...
*
lol... yes, this design is old school but i actually prefer this one... but i like samsung's LED monitors, those design are nice and modern...

About the cables... Since no difference, it's good news for me.. i'll just get a hdmi convert to DVI. nod.gif
