Siggy f/1.4 is Canon EF 50mm f/1.4?
*
Siggy f/1.4 is Sigma f/1.4, I think they have 30mm f/1.4 and a 50mm f/1.4. Canon 50mm f/1.4 is a different lens, cheaper than the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 I believe

with knowledge and understanding, poison is nullified. biggrin.gif

if i really want, by now also donno how many L already.

most people poisoned by bokeh la but look at the best photos in the world, they're not bokefied photos.

talk to the pros, you'll see that they find bokeh is like an "Easy way out" on things. no challenge wan, take photo background blur. imaging couple pay you to snap photo in Paris, you want to f1.2 all the way blur out all the background ah?

try going for competition or stock photo - you're never penalized for the lack of bokeh creaminess, unless it's distracting. but you often get penalized, or even considered fail when there's not enough detail or lack
*
Agree wif goldy...if u knw wad is ur own requirement...thn poison can be nullified.aftr i gt my tammy, thr's no more poison anymore...
Thou i like d creamy bokeh of f1.2...depends whether u need it for urself or not...smile.gif

Saw your blog entry about Vegas... I'm scheduled to go there in January.

Any specific recommendations on where to take pics?

Also though about getting a Gorillapod (since a regular tripod's too bulky)... are there railings and such where I can set up the Gorillapod for the Bellagio fountains and "Eiffel" tower?

Appreciate some tips.
*
I'm there in late January for a week.

Gorillapods are good, but for the Bellagio you can use the concrete "railing" to put your camera. You need a UWA though. 18mm on APS-C aint going to work. I shoot mostly handheld. Tripod too heavy to lug around...

Anywhere to take pics? That certainly depends on what pics you want to take..... most interesting places you go (or do!), you probably don't want to take any pics at all least you incriminate yourself.... its Vegas afterall......hahahahahaha...or camera's arn't allowed anway.

If you have the time, take a drive to Hoover dam....

I used to think Bellagio has a nice fountain......but after seeing Disney's World of Colour fountain show, eveything is 2nd best.....

Considering a 40D as a backup to the Mark 2. How I wish I had enough for the Mark 1 or another Mark 2? biggrin.gif

what so bad about that?

Of course it isn't as good as a 5D, but slap on an affordable 85 f1.8 or 100 f2 and its an excellent reach for those spur of the moment shots.

Thanks. I'll be there first week of Jan.

I checked out the street view in Google Maps and you're right... certainly require wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide and there's trees obstructing the view from the other side. What about from a higher vantage point?

That aside, probably wanna shoot the characters on the streets. 18mm on crop enough to fit an american or not? tongue.gif

Nothing bad about it. Happy with a 40D. But of course, a duplicate set-up will be ideal. smile.gif

strange that when using compact camera i feel more... into the "story in a photo part" but when in dslr all about sharpness and pixel peeping..
