What protection you use? I need it liao sad.gif
with knowledge and understanding, poison is nullified. biggrin.gif

if i really want, by now also donno how many L already.

most people poisoned by bokeh la but look at the best photos in the world, they're not bokefied photos.

talk to the pros, you'll see that they find bokeh is like an "Easy way out" on things. no challenge wan, take photo background blur. imaging couple pay you to snap photo in Paris, you want to f1.2 all the way blur out all the background ah?

try going for competition or stock photo - you're never penalized for the lack of bokeh creaminess, unless it's distracting. but you often get penalized, or even considered fail when there's not enough detail or lack of DOF.

Even if add BG?

Edit: personally.. I think 24-70L balances ok
*
both didnt have BG, I think it would have been better with a BG on. I think the 24-105mm felt better on it than the heavyweight 24-70mm but I guess its something you've got to get used to because the owners seem comfortable with them

Now that you mentioned it.. I was shooting my collegue with Eiffel tower (the hourly bling thing) in the background at night. Her comment was like "WTF is that bunch of round balls behind her?" doh.gif

I think w/o BG.. the 550D balances the best with lens weight (not too long ones la) around 400-500grams.

Luxury approach --> 35L
Kiasu approach --> Siggy 30mm
Average joe approach --> 28mm f/1.8/ 25mm f/2

Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 is priced similar to Siggy 30mm f/1.4 or maybe more expensive than Siggy... sweat.gif

My friend commented on Christmas tree bokeh: "Why did you photoshop the Christmas tree with the colored round balls?" doh.gif

Moral of the story: Bokeh-ness may not work all the time laugh.gif

why not get sumthin around 30mm with f/1.4 then... I think th Sigma one would be a good choice or if your uncertain, look into different primes (just to compare, maybe you would like this focal length too), the 85mm f1.4 / f1.8 ones seem nice

i've heard some people say the the siggy at f/1.4 is not sharp =s if that so. i will have to push it up to f/1.8 then it would be pointless to get f/1.4 that canot function

The Siggy main issue (others are liveable) is that there's a high chance of front/back focussing so shooting charts are critical before paying.

Other than that... my 2 cent comparing with the 50mm f1.8 (since u got that as well)

- Focus muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh faster, waaaaaaaaaaaay less hunt at low light
- No Transformer sound
- Center sharpness wide open similiar to f/2.2 of the 50mm.
- More prone to purple fringing compared to 50mm f1.8

These are just some shots @f/1.4.
