The Tenaya Lake 3 shot panoramic shot.

Seriously reduced resolution

Too bad, I can't upload a bigger shot. Viewed this on an 50" HD display and on my Dell Ultrasharp 3007. Amazing. Wish I can beam this over a 4k projector.

I am so going back there one day and make more time to shoot all those sunset shots.

Hoover Dam bridge - Brand new, just opened 1 week when I got there. Shot from the Dam. 2 shot vertical Pano

I have some panoramic for the Grand Canyon and Hoover dam. Will post more then I get my backup drive back.

Btw, have you guys seen any of Peter lik's shots?
http://www.peterlik.com/

I was in both his Galleries in Vegas. Those back lit poster-sized medium format pictures are for the lack of a better expletive ...f*cking amazine.

whooops...my 18-55 IS just bit the dust.

can only auto focus one way. (ie. turn one direction.....).very odd
Still works on manual. apperture control still ok....looks like af motor died.

Time to move on....or not. not sure what I might replace it with. There was a used 17-85 IS for 1k in garage sale that got my interest piqued.... but I really don't have much need in the 17-50mm range. My most used lenses are my Toki 116, 50mm and 55-250....

its just that if someone else uses my camera (the spare 450D) they would be lacking a general purpose lens.

Grey Wolf.
It was getting quite late in the evening so I had to pump up ISO to get a resonable shutter speed.

Hi Jaycee, how to shoot to get this effect?
Wanna try on it myself.
Appreciate if you can share for this, thanks.

TV mode, Slow shutter speed. Match speed of moving car. Spam. Takes practice.

I just looked up my exif. I went down to 1/10...the faster the car, the faster the shutter speed can be to get the effect.

Hi everyone biggrin.gif i am planning on getting a canon 550d with the 18-135mm lens, so far i heard lots of good stuff from friends and reading online, but are there any issues that i haven't heard about? this will be my first dslr and any advice would be greatly appreciated smile.gif
*
Nothing really wrong with the 550D except for the autofocus thing on video mode...if you don't care much about video, it works fine as a camera.
Otherwise you will need to look to the Nikon camp.

In fact it is everything as good as my 7D minus 3 points.

1) Durability,
2) shooting speed
3) servo focus accuracy

but at 1/2 the price...it isn't bad.

i will be snapping lots of photos, but im also quite interested in the full hd recording, and the camera seem to appeal to me because of the price tag. but what's that about the autofocus thing?

So if say video is important to me, what would you advice? Thanks biggrin.gif
*
Like Goldfied mentioned, this afflicts all Canon DSLRs.

In order of perference.

1) Use manual focus only
2) Buy a dedicated HD video camera (also go past the 4GB memory limit - on FullHD ~ 11mins....which means a headache if you want to record longer)
3) buy the D7000

There is one cop out though. Put a UWA like my Tokina on, and you barely need to adjust focus.

Thanks.

If not for the plane's window being a little dirty killing contrast, that would have been an amazing shot.

thats the problem... when using noise reduction can still see the noise on 27" samsung... even resize can still see it. Or is it true what goldie said about me? I mean the part that I'm like a machine who can see the pixel but nobody else does?
*
Aiyoo.. if I pixel peep, ISO 100 also I can point out noise.
No image is absolutely Noise Free. You are dealing with an analog device, you WILL get noise.

Seriously, just do some test prints on 4R and 8R. Don't think you'd be so worried about noise after that.

i am having problem wiht my battery grip. i sent to canon malaysia but then still have the same problem, which is the shutter button. sometimes i cannot focus, sometimes can. even it can focus, it won't take any photo even i fully pressed it. but the other things are just working fine, the wheel and the fe lock buttons. so would like to ask, by any chance that there is problem with my body rather than my grip? so tired to send to canon malaysia dy. sent my things on 4th nov but they only get it done by today, but still having the same problem

Added on November 26, 2010, 7:09 pmanyone staying nearby sunway has either bg-e3 or 40d/50d willing to help out? would like to meet up and try out see whether is my body problem or grip..thanks
*
Had that happen on my BG-E7. Couldn't figure why. But tried cleaning the contacts....worked ok since.

Not sure if that might solve your problem. ....failing that, maybe the shutter button is shot.

Come to think of it, my friend ajak me to shoot alongside him for his friend's wedding sweat.gif

The problem is that both of us are very new 550D owners and he's pretty confident of taking up that job as a OP, overlooking the gravity of the situation. He did tell his friend that he's very new in this and that not to expect much from him.It seems his friend insisted he take up the job. So should i join him? If at the end of the day, the result is sucky then i'll be in deep trouble also

p/s: He only has a 550D +50 lens. Not even a bag! Memory card also only 2GB WTF. His money got burnt when he bought his 550D set sweat.gif
*
Can you shoot a wedding with just the 50mm? Yes you can. but good to have a wide standard zoom as well.

if he is new, shooting with just the 50mm will give him exceptional images and unlike all other p&s., a very unique perspective as long if he know how to use it.

i have shot an entire wedding as backup OP on a 50mm.

Guys, given budget of rm 3.5k , combination of 60D+ 18-55mm kit + 50mm 1.8 is better or 550D+18-55mm kit+ 430EXII ? Priority would be indoor photography,thanks

P/S : sorry if it is supposed to be in recommendation thread, but I think canon users are more experienced in canon cameras, thanks
*
wah 3.5 K now can get 550D Kit plus 430EX2?

anyway..if you can, like many has pointed out, take the 550D + flash, but I would suggest perhaps getting a cheaper nissin and using the money to get a 50mm f1.8.

Yeah, supposed to go in March but I presume I can't save more by then, in the end we will wait till my best friend to finish her internship over there but that will be in September. Beginning of Autumn lo. hmm.gif
laugh.gif You really think my working life is a bed of roses. laugh.gif
I'll see how it goes la. smile.gif

Don't worry. France in Autumn is very pretty. Just maybe a little crowded. You'd enjoy your time there nonetheless.

I've been to France 5 times now, and every time I go, I find something new and interesting. Spend a week in Paris if you can. You need at least that much time to do justice to your trip. I prefer to go in June to make the Le Mans 24 hours.

Saw your blog entry about Vegas... I'm scheduled to go there in January.

Any specific recommendations on where to take pics?

Also though about getting a Gorillapod (since a regular tripod's too bulky)... are there railings and such where I can set up the Gorillapod for the Bellagio fountains and "Eiffel" tower?

Appreciate some tips.
*
I'm there in late January for a week.

Gorillapods are good, but for the Bellagio you can use the concrete "railing" to put your camera. You need a UWA though. 18mm on APS-C aint going to work. I shoot mostly handheld. Tripod too heavy to lug around...

Anywhere to take pics? That certainly depends on what pics you want to take..... most interesting places you go (or do!), you probably don't want to take any pics at all least you incriminate yourself.... its Vegas afterall......hahahahahaha...or camera's arn't allowed anway.

If you have the time, take a drive to Hoover dam....

I used to think Bellagio has a nice fountain......but after seeing Disney's World of Colour fountain show, eveything is 2nd best.....

Considering a 40D as a backup to the Mark 2. How I wish I had enough for the Mark 1 or another Mark 2? biggrin.gif

what so bad about that?

Of course it isn't as good as a 5D, but slap on an affordable 85 f1.8 or 100 f2 and its an excellent reach for those spur of the moment shots.
