Lol. I fall into the "get weird stuff frequently" group though, once in a blue moon (often when I get stressed out over something). Understandably my finances go haywire during these "retail therapy" periods.

Maybe it's just that. Stress management. Not the right kind but stress management nonetheless.

BTW, I'm in need of an "psuedo-audiophile acceptable" gaming headset right about now. Main target is the Skullcandy SLYR (which is supposedly QUITE GOOD for something coming from the Skullcandy) but it's not available locally.

Now trying to get the Asus ROG Vulcan, as it supposedly holds it's own against the AKG 701. I really don't need the noise canceling but detachable wires and affordability look mighty nice for something below RM400 new.

Will you consider audiophile level headphone with wide headstage? A few of them are highly praised for gaming like Audio Technica AD-700, and of course for music listening as well.

I'd like to have a build in mic too lol, considering the GE40 mic is so... very... crappy.

I know I can order an external mic like the modmic or something but having them all I one for pc use (I have IEMs for other purposes) is convenient. The Vulcan especially so because it folds up. The baby bro Orion also looks nice (and is 30% cheaper!).

Also, there are some that think that the 700 is overrated (as in, overpriced for what it does) for gaming and some of the Fischer Audio cans are better suited. But even those have no mics built in.

Them modmics are out of stock ANYWAY.

@unseen: You interested to sell it (the headphones)?

Also, getting a 240w psu is fine, as long as it's has the MSI connector and similar voltage ratings. I'm actually looking for an MSI 120w psu myself.

@xFreedom: GE40 = Much better battery life, small size, rubbish built in mic. GE60 = Better screen, sliiiiiiiiightly lower temps.

Essentially it depends on your budget and whether you want a 14incher or a 15incher.

for this part i think you should look around. get a power brick that has the same voltage (+0.5V is still ok but not more than that), but higher wattage (230-240W, 330W; well 330W might be too much hehe).

unfortunately the MSI BIOS lock it down to the 180W , so 240W won't take any effect , the system will still using 180W+hybrid power , but maybe can unlock the BIOS and change to 240W

oh my... sorry i thought i explain to you(on PM) regarding hybrid power that msi GT60/70 use they call it NOS ... explanation is when cpu on boost mode and gpu (boost mode) ac power 180w reach it limit... bios will switch to use battery power+ ac power in theory there be + 10% gpu/cpu boost.. is like built in boost system/OC on the GT60/70... (hybrid stop using battery when the charge of battery is 30% )

hmm thank you for confirmation of hybrid power smile.gif msi call it NOS lolz silly name still think it as gimmick... but more i use GT70 i understand why / reason they implemented the tech add on... is simply to compensate e.g. boost 2 not just faster spining fan but also extra connected copper bridge...(which is work fine cooling ), Dynaudio speaker.. this speaker can drown noise from fan when it on boost mode... plus sound system came with GT70 is impressive creative blaster cinema (as i came from Asus G series sound is not satisfy) ... keyboards.. steelseries... (some ppl luv this keyboards) not me.. lols like color tho... and i never understand Killer wifi thing... ??

KILLER network cards (WIFI/Lan) have more features and faster speeds (supposedly) compared to normal cards.

@tonberry_ax: 1303 doesn't come with BT. Plus it's still pants compared to the Intel 7260 AC cards.

I honestly do not think that the Asus ROG Vulcan is anywhere near comparable to the K701. How was the K701 being driven? straight from a headphone jack? Or on a full on desktop system?

my GE60-2OC can hit 75 degrees, but with turbo fan can just get merely 70-73 degrees depending on how stress the game is.

Ehem. "Holds its own" here doesn't mean it's comparable. It actually means "it doesn't sound like outright sheet compared to", unlike most other gaming headsets. Supposedly anyway, it was from a review on the net.

It was from a desktop external amp-dac btw.

Anyhows, I'm now leaning towards the notion that Razer Surround + an "okay" Headphone is enough for most of the stuff I do on the laptop anyway - spending 800+ just to be able to know which bullets come from where ACCURATELY is not really important when you're being suppressed on a regular basis by heavy enemy fire + tank shells while being mortar spammed, all at once.

I mean, YOU KNOW where they're coming from. No 7.1 or audiophile headphones are gonna help you pwn a tank and an entire squad of angry Russians right in front of you.

For music I'm listening from the on board realtek anyway so...

@tonberry_ax: Bring it in from outside and install ler lol. AC routers are available locally already anyway - though the biggest bottleneck is still bloody UniFi, so it's sorta pointless.
