Ok quote myself and report back. Now my laptop is okay now. Warranty experience like this:

Week1-Go to service center in JB. Did not leave laptop there, the helpful boss say will help me file warranty claim. Before the end of the week, told me the mobo replacement ordered already arrive.

Week2-Bring the laptop over and leave to them. The third day, call me up and tell me confirm not mobo problem, should be power adapter problem but the adapter is currently out of stock and cant tell me when can get. I got back my laptop for the weekend. Did not change the mobo (Actually they shld order the power adapter first)

Week3-Call me up the power adapter reach them. So today i just go and exchange with them. ( I wanna test myself instead of leaving the laptop there as weekend i can test). Using until now, the problem did not reoccur so its solved!
Overall i feel satisfy with the warranty experience (though my problem is a small one, laptop still can use). This is all done in JB, and i have my laptop back most of the times so thats why drag until 3weeks. Talked to MSI rep, actually my problem can get resolve faster if warranty claim at PJ site.

Will consider getting GX70 later.

MSI gaming notebooks are currently top#1 in cooling , storage , and network , GPU

1. MSI single fan cooler boost technology (and cooler boost 2 for newer GT range) is very competent and good enough for a gaming laptop. It will not overheat but if you prefer dual fan u should look elsewhere

2. GPU throttling? Dont simply say what you not sure. I doubt it will happen on GT GE or GX laptop

3. The warranty sticker is silly. So have to bring to SC to add hdd or clean or etc

Anyway, keyword: stress test. You wouldnt get to the throttling condition in gaming mode as you mention.

lol if you want just go buy Asus then. Im just pointing out its misleading to say MSI (or lenovo's or whatever because IB and Haswell thermal performance at load is questionable) will overheat and throttle because the kind of stress test is just synthetic and wouldnt occur as a normal user (maybe u too pro d or a reviewer lol)

So the bottom line is, the sticker serves more as warning that changing the components other than RAM/HDD result in voiding the warranty.

Got itchy so finally "operated" my baby: Thermal repaste with Xigmatek Freezing Point. Interesting POIs during the procedure:

- If you plan to open up your GE40 often (and you're clumsy like me), consider ordering a spare back cover from MSI. It's plastic and I can see the tabs breaking at some point or another.

- It's quite easy to open the back cover, especially coming from the horror that was the M1210. This is very good for future self maintenance for sure.

- The original paste job is messy. REALLY REALLY messy. Not sure what goop they were using for paste either, but it actually didn't look half bad (except for the messiness).

With the "operation" all done, I ran Crysis 3 again (same area as before: The 1st level before the Jungle) and got:

AVG CPU TEMP: 78c (-6c)
PEAK CPU TEMP: 80c (-2c)
AVG GPU TEMP: 71c (-5c)
PEAK GPU TEMP: 74 (-4c)

Not bad. It also felt smoother than before, somehow.

But CPU temps quickly got back to the 80s range with a peak of 86c as soon as I hit the "New York Jungle" area. GPU stayed around 72-73c with a peak of 76c though.

Which leads me to wonder: might I have easily hit 90c with the stock paste when hitting the Jungle? Lol. Mind you this is all with TURBO BOOST DISABLED.

With it on + the factory paste job we might even touch 100c...  maybe lol.

In retrospect though, it looks nothing like the 4k lappy that it really is, so in a way that's good as it doesn't really attract "unwanted" attention.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely going to remove the palm rest stickers.

Well, as long as it comes over and doesn't cost a bomb, I guess people will be happy. Plus I'm actually glad they're giving Razer some competition (psst, MSI, clone the Blade next please! Aluminium Unibody and all...). But looking at how thin that thing is, not sure if any amount of dual-cooling can help it.

Actually, I'm lamenting the fact that Gigabyte does not have a notebook distributor here in Malaysia. For that matter, I'm wondering why the P34G Ultrablade is not even out yet.
