Oh shiat. My GE40 just died. It's simply refusing to start, getting stuck right after the MSI logo - the screen blinking on and off while the power button alternates between orange and blue.

W... T... F...

Now going through the Windows Refresh process. Thankfully most of my more "important" stuff remain backed up in my User directory (which is supposedly kept in one peace through the refresh). Everything else will not be so lucky however (full wipe of everything else).

Resetting and reinstaling everything back to square one is really gonna kill me. Plus I have a splitting headache from 10 straight hours of PayDay 2.

Dem, I have no idea what happened either.

Man.. sad.gif

Hmm... how is it so far? Why don't you take out the HDD and back it up first on another computer before doing any refresh and what not? At least that way you will still have the data.

really... so what it say on msi brochure is another msi lie? ?  sad.gif  first waranty cover(labor service another charge)

Warranty is warranty.Replacement of parts is free in warranty period but not labour charges. It's the same thing like me servicing my Pajero Sport, 3 years warranty with free replacement of parts if got problem, but as for labour, we still have to pay.

I think the bag is acceptable, just that the padding isn't thick enough to accommodate a lot of items especially those that are heavy. But hey, it's a free bag. :-)

Hey, I'll bite. Make me an offer.

@zzloo: Can you confirm if the GS70 has an i7-4700MQ or an i7-4700HQ?

That's what I read too, and I also watched a review by GenTechPC. Problem is several sellers here list it as an MQ and it wouldn't be the first time local specs differ from the ones overseas. Since zzloo has an actual GS70, I was hoping he could settle the question.

Heh. I should have waited and DID THIS. I refreshed it anyway and got everything nuked from orbit Aliens style. Clearly the recovery image had been customised by MSI: it was exactly like it first came, bloat and all.

On the other hand, the refresh tool really did refresh everything from square one except for:

A) Stuff in your user folder (Yay my New Vegas saves!).
B) Stuff you DID NOT install in Program Files (which is weird lol). I lost the registry entries for these programs (installed in C: root) so I need to reinstall anyway, but at least the save files are safe.

Maybe next time I refresh I should do a "recimg" and create my own personalised recovery image to make things easier.

Damn, it was Windows update for sure. I just installed the SAME update I installed the last time, now the computer is refusing to boot AGAIN. It's stuck in the SAME blue/orange light bootloop like the last time.

This time I'm just gonna try waiting it out. Sigh.

Oh Win8 Y U NO LIEK ME?
