I called MSI"s product info hotline and they told me we can indeed get.the GE40 mSATA daughterboard (just the daughterboard) at the MSI service centres for about RM 500. The daughterboard is installed into an ODD bay caddy and can be done while you wait. However, MSI's sales personnel also told me that they are currently out of stock locally, and they need 2-3 days to bring the part in upon order.

I did, bur I found conflicting information. Some listings say the CPU is an i7-4700MQ, and some say it's an i7-4700HQ. Since I'm interested in vt-d, I'd like to know if the processor is supposed to be the vt-dless MQ or the vt-d equipped HQ.

A bit steep but for service + still keeping warranty, not bad. I hope that includes the optical disk HDD caddy too.

As for the GS70, check out the reviews and previews online. It ONLY comes with the 4700HQ, due to the fact that it's so thin. The MQ (and the socket) wouldn't fit. All the other MSI lappies come with MQs I think.

"Fermi" is the architecture name for the LAST GEN nVidia GPUs (4xx and 5xx series). The 765 is ACTUALLY one of the "Kepler" chips, which started with the 6xx series GPUs.

In short, any nVidia cards that starts with a number 6 or 7 is a "Kepler" chip.

Killer networking is more for LAN. Internet wise your bottle neck is still TMNet. Even then it also depends if your LAN infrastructure is not bottle necking the performance.

To add to this. Find out the codename of the GPU. Anything GF = Fermi. Anything GK = Kepler.

With that in mind, 6xx series is a mix of Kepler and Fermi (for the lower end GPUs)

just tampered my void sticker and add on a HyperX Lo Vo ram to my laptop. Hopefully it doesn't void my warranty as I didn't touch anything else.

It's not. The touch screen touchpad was only on the prototype model shown in CES.

Oh shiat. My GE40 just died. It's simply refusing to start, getting stuck right after the MSI logo - the screen blinking on and off while the power button alternates between orange and blue.

W... T... F...

Now going through the Windows Refresh process. Thankfully most of my more "important" stuff remain backed up in my User directory (which is supposedly kept in one peace through the refresh). Everything else will not be so lucky however (full wipe of everything else).

Resetting and reinstaling everything back to square one is really gonna kill me. Plus I have a splitting headache from 10 straight hours of PayDay 2.

Dem, I have no idea what happened either.

Didn't open it. Feels not too bad, at least better than those from dell inspiron and asus a series but definitely not up to premium bags yet
