aih i usually try not to talk about boobs IRL so much else they'd think I'm one ungrateful person

Qarezma, thx alot.. but my ebm still very slow & less. around 1hr - 1 hr half i just can pump out 3oz of bm.. maybe that is y my baby nvr get enuff og milk & keep waking up for bm?? he wakes up almost every hr or 45mins sometimes, seldom will sleep thru 2hrs or longer.. sometimes seeing him so frustrated & cry just make me feel like i'm so useless for not feeding him enuff.. N my milk seems like watery & not thick as well..


nicKit, as my mil said want me to rest at nite so she insisted my baby sleep with them.. I'm having my confinement at my hb hometown, staying at my mil place so hb only can back on weekends to be with us..
Honestly, without my hb here, do feel so stressful & lonely.. sometimes just miss him so much when my baby cry or i cant handle my baby..

Tess, pumping 3oz for every 2 hours consider a lot already. At full moon, i can only get 4oz every 3 hours...

Do continue pumping for every 2 hours to increase supply if u cant latch on. Make sure u schedule one pump between 2-5am.. best if once at 3 am and once at 5am. Thats how i increase my supply.

EBM is never thick. Its usually much much more watery than FM.

yr milk supply is good.. yr baby is waking up for milk cos bm digest fast, plus he is newborn.. he needs the comfort... i would keep nb with me at night, cos this is yr time to bond with him, and get used to his presence with me at night... once u give birth u are a natural mother, so dont worry abt not being able to handle him.. we women are special that way

Tess_87, sbux is actually rite. i only manage to pump 10ml during my confinement. imagine 10ml. i felt as bad as u did. mil kept saying c no milk / not enuf milk. but then after getting lots of info n reading thru the bf network, there is no such thing. actually u should get ur nb wif u at nite so u can build up ur supply. there is no better breast pump than baby's. if u couldn't then try cosleeping after ur confinement. elders will say that it's bad coz baby won't b imdependent but it's actually natural parenting. ur baby is still ur baby, u're forever his mum. like qarezma said, once we girls upgrade to mummies, we're natural. that's wat sets us apart from men. qarezma's hb oso away from her during confinement. mayb she could share some experience wif u. i remember she kept telling me how she would miss n think of her hb when she had a bad mood. bm changes formula according to baby's need unlike fm, only one formula. amazing huh? welcome to the wonderful n amazing world of bm! so if u find ur ebm sometimes thick someyimes watery it's coz they're changing foemula! i think. besides coz u just give birth ur bm is not as matured as me, phythia's or syd's. dun worry la. ur body knows wat to do. it's a natural thing. man i'm so long winded

all the ladies advised is correct. Your milk is still watery as you just delivered...your body has yet to adjust. don't worry..soon enough the BM composition will change accordingly. Most important also is your food intake..has to be good..ya.

In terms of baby waking up all the time for milk ..sometimes..your baby wants your cuddles and comfort..that's why it's best to room in.

Just to let you know...when i was on confinement..my mom was my CL and assisted by my aunty. She only helped me to clean the house, wash clothes and cook...while my aunty helped me to bathe Xander. I took care of xander by myself the whole day (unless i am too tired..then only i'll pass to my mom)..when he sleep...i sleep. At night..my hubby helped me to feed as i needed my sleep..but that time i would get up to pump..so no difference too.

For me i take this as a lesson as this is actually the start of sleepless nights .

remember..CL works for you...you decide what you should do and direct her..not the other way round.

I have a confession - I once had a 1 oz after 1 hr pump during my first week of confinement.............. and then half of it spilled

It's normal le to have very little milk during first week - supply is building up. There was an article in NST last weekend sharing the story of a milk mother pumping 20 bottles of 5oz a day for her milk children. You all have more milk than you think.

Dont underestimate your super powers

even now, my baby is 7wo and my milk initially comes watery.. only later it is pure milk color.. so dont be too hard on that

i did confinement with my mom at my hometown, and i had my 1.5yo toddler with me... hubby away... its important to call and talk frequently to know his support for you... i know yr situation is different as u are with MIL.. as i said u need to handle accordingly

Syd, paiseh la. i'm still not qualify le. unlike u n phythia else i would have apply for the peer counsellor i can officially say i'm a bf addict. a bit scared of the day my boy wean off the breast. will definately miss it. but i guess i could still pump if only ppl accept ebm just like cow's milk, e.g. make cake, yogurt, ice cream, handmade soap, etc. super nutricous (i know wrong spelling but i dun have spelling checker) n moisterizing!

Hi all, sry couldnt get any internet connection yesterday.. Apologize to all as wat i mean is i pump 2hrs only can get 2-3oz, not every 2hrs.. Haha..
Btw, my left nipple skin kinda peel off, hurt badly when my boy latch on, even pump oso hurts.. Ppl tell me to apply my own milk on the wound but still hurts.. Any way to make it heal faster? Hard to pump out milk from the wounded nipple.. =(
My CL keep saying n telling my bb that his mama milk cant make him full enuff, everytime keep askin me my bb full onot after each feeding.. Frustrated with her!!!

Tell your CL to keep quiet or else you'll fire her. That's the only way to shut them up. Have to be mean so that you'll be sane. The only thing for now is to keep on putting the breast milk on your nipple. If can...try to get cream for it...but i heard it doesn't help much.

today went for baby's checkup... he gained 1kg for 2 mths... he's now 10kg... ok ar? the nurse is praising me for still bf n asked me to promote bf went to the imigresen office n found surprisingly got nursing room... nice n comfy... :thumb:

CL is always going for the easy way. My CL wanted to feed my girl formula as well. Me and my wife tried to stop her by storing extra EBM in the fridge, so she can't feed formula. 2-3oz per 2 hours is good. You body takes time to produce it. Believe me. We hardly store any breast milk during the 1st month. But we have over 1 month worth of supply stored after 3rd month. Keep it up. You can do it.

Do you know that African babies are malnurished only after they stop being breastfed? Breast milk provide their babies with everything they need. Even at poor country like africa, breast milk is the best source of nutrition even though their mother might not be healthy.

Your CL always ask "is your baby full" is because she can't see how much you are feeding. They are worried plus they want the easy way. One of the way to shut my CL mouth during my wife confinement is we express it whenever possible after direct breastfeeding so she can see when she fed my girl with expressed breast milk. Hmm.

Breastfeeding is an ability born within you. It is not super human ability. It is not superman stunt. Be proud of yourself being a breastfeeding mother. Good job!

Yes, we managed to keep 1 month worth of EBM. My girl is 7.5 months now. She just caught up our speed of production. We managed to store during this 7.5 months time. Guess she will be drinking EBM faster than we producing it after the 8th month.

Re your CL, u must be very firm with her. u tell her, baby won't sleep quietly if he is still hungry. Hungry baby will make noise and fuss. Then u asked her, of all those years she worked as a CL, she must have some experience right?

And where is ur hubby in all this issue? Get him to stand behind ur back.

Like my hubby, i told him already. No matter what he MUST support me in BF. if not, i will bring baby back to my mum's place for confinement. Wahlao.. he is so damn supportive. I wanted to give up when my nipple cracked and bleed but he told me cannot. must continue. hahahahha...

what breast pump are u using? a good pump shouldn't take that long. But its good also cuz its stimulating your milk production.

the only way to toughen up your nipple is to direct latch. no other ways. and the applying breastmilk way works!
