QUOTE(waqas86 @ Jan 16 2011, 01:43 PM) Thanx a bunch guys. I'm going to grab an XFX HD6850. Btw I have an ASUS 650W PSU. Would that be enough if go Crossfire with HD6850 (2-way) in the future? Even 550W PSU(80+ and APFC) is more than enough. AMD website recommends 600W PSU(80+ and APFC) for CFX Dual Radeon HD6850. But, in fact, the whole setup(included all other hardwares) only consume around 500W+-(should be lesser than 500W). 650W PSU? If it does have 80+ and AFPC(these 2 things means very good true power), then, it's MORE THAN ENOUGH again.

It gives you more aggressive cooling. My friend's Sapphire 6870 is at 74C on load using auto fan speed after the update. This post has been edited by TristanX: Jan 17 2011, 12:19 PM

Thanks in advance I also notice that watching anime etc will increase the load of the gpu and hence increase in temperature on my 6950. I think that should be pretty normal, since videos are also a form of graphic.

It must have been using the GPU's video acceleration to decode the video hence there will be some GPU usage

Depends on the game, but the CPU probably will bottleneck your GPU.

Most probably will but I guess u can always OC ur processor or upgrade it later. I myself is looking into the 6850 or the 6950... haven't done my christmas shopping yet stil waiting for the 6950 non reference to come out

would like to ask about my OCed HD6850 TOXIC temperature. It hit 86 Celcius when i run furmark stability test for 1 hour. Is that ok for the GPU to stay like that for a long run? or should i lower the temp? im afraid of damaging the GPU Driver: 10.12 Fan speed: Auto/43% Core clock: 950 Memory clock: 1180 GPU voltage: 1200

guys, new performance driver come out (but for hd6800 and hd6900 series) QUOTE Catalyst 11.1a Hot-Fix
The latest Catalyst Hot-Fix; (11.1a) offers increased performance brings a slew of new features and should be the driver used for any performance testing. Below are a few of the highlights from this driver:
Performance improvements for the AMD Radeon HD 6800 & HD 6900 series include but not limited to:
AMD Radeon HD 6900 and AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series: · 3DMark Vantage improves ~7% · 3DMark06 improves ~3% · Call of Duty Black Ops improves ~20% at 4xMSAA and up to 35% at 8xMSAA · Riddick Assault on Dark Athena SSAO performance improves ~20% · Unigine Heaven OpenGL performance improves ~10% at moderate, 30% at normal and 100% at extreme tessellation levels
AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series: · Aliens vs. Predators improves ~9% at 2xMSAA and up to 20% at 4xMSAA · Batman Arkham Asylum improves ~4% · Crysis Warhead improves ~2-4% · Metro 2033 improves ~28% at 4xMSAA
AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series: · Battleforge DirectX 11 performance improves as much as 6% · The Catalyst Control Center includes an early prototype of some new tessellation controls. Our goal is to give users full control over the tessellation levels used in applications. The default selection “AMD Optimized” setting allows AMD, on a per application basis, to set the best level of tessellation. The intention is to help users get the maximum visual benefit of Tessellation, while minimizing the impact on performance. Currently no applications have been profiled, so the “AMD Optimized” setting will be non-operational until further notice. · The “Use Application Settings” option gives applications full control over the Tessellation level. Users can also manually set the maximum tessellation level used by applications with the slider control · The long term goal for the “AMD Optimized” setting is to use the Catalyst Application Profile mechanism to control the AMD recommended level of tessellation on a per application basis. AMD’s intention is to set the tessellation level such that we will not be reducing image quality in any way that would negatively impact the gaming experience. amd ditches old hardware again (hd5800 and below) This post has been edited by zerorating: Jan 18 2011, 08:16 PM

AMD's gpu can run at a max safe temp of 104 celcius. So, running at 86celcius whole day will not damage your gpu. And also, most of the time, your gpu will be idle, which has a much lower temp, so, don't worry bout temp. Of course, if its idle is 86, PLS underclock it back. the life span of the gpu will significantly decrease. Lol..

I think AMD just confirmed they will release 6950 1GB at USD 279. Not 6970 at USD 279.
