1-Have you adjusted at the CCC?Video colour settings.
2-Consider using MPC-HC,it has a larger colour/dynamic range [not sure what it's called] of 0-255 rather than 16-235 for WMP12

Don't use WMP.

Use either VLC or MPC.
My machine works best with VLC but on MPC, I have some contrast and color distortion in some codecs.
But, I use both, depends on situation! thumbup.gif

It's depending on your settings and GPU.

My laptop works great with MPC while my desktop doesn't.

r u set ur monitor to theater mode too??i used to use the theater mode on monitor with my nvidia gc last time, no problem with that when using nvidia gc,once i changed to amd, the screen is too dark when the movie scene is at night time, cant even see the person in the movie, haha...i have to use the standard movie on my monitor to solve tis problem~~but the picture quality is sux man~~even i adjust all the setting in CCC~~but i think the image graphic quality in gaming is better than nvidia for amd~~i m using asus monitor btw~~

i just changed from a HD4850 to a GTX460 and there's no difference, and fyi i am picky about these things.
Theater mode is like dynamic contrast ratio on monitors,it adjusts the backlight of the monitor which is annoying as hell.

i dun think the theater mode is like the dynamic contrast, the dynamic contrast which can switch off manually on my monitor even in theater mode, the theater mode from asus monitor which can make the picture with higher contrast and higher saturation, but i have tried to set these 2 setting in CCC when monitor in standard mode, i cant get back the same quality~~i m quite picky in hd movie picture quality oso~~tat;s y i feel the different....

my laptop is 9600+acer led and desktop 5870+HP w2408h.. the 5870 is smoother+better color+sharp n clear especially for 720p videos and of course pairing with a better monitor
