if 6970 is slower than 580 then im disappointed. wait for nothing

That is one thing. Look at the power consumption, heat and noise first. If there is a big difference for all those while maintaining a bit lower performance and good cooling, it's still a win in long term.

Guys,

Wanna ask,  Im interested with HD 5770. Im always ON my PC 24/7 (downloading) and power consumption is my greatest concern. You think HD 5770 will increase my electricity bill significantly eh? Have been relying on my HD 4200 (on-board graphic card, ASUS  M4a785TD-V Evo) but proved that its not enough for some games and my design editing.
Read that ATI claim this card only consume 18watt idle and max laod 108 watt. Dunno if i can really trust this figure o not  sweat.gif    . Need some opinion  notworthy.gif

This will probably give you a hint. Bare in mind those are total system power figures.

Bro, if u want cooler hardware, you gonna have to go bigger casings with good airflow. Heat will accumulate much faster on small casings.

Operating environment is another factor. I put my PC right infront of Window. The hot air will get ejected out of my room directly. Oh, don't forget to close the Window when you are not around if you wanna try this.

I'm guessing AMD tried to squeeze whatever they can at 40nm without excessive power consumption. That's the reason why it didn't beat GTX580.

Like zerorating said, they can go 520mm chip if they want to but it will be more costly to produce and it will consume more power.

I'm not disappointed after reading the full review. It's overall better than what they replace. I'd say HD6950 2GB will be better bang for the buck.

Wow, 750W for your 6850? You can even have three 6850 in CF. Did you used driver sweeper before you install your 6850 driver? What is your current processor? You might wanna check your RAM.

I am using Sapphire 6870 n the temp is the same as yours, seems to me is normal n the fan speed is set at 40%

There is a BIOS update for Sapphire 6870. It gives you more aggressive cooling. My friend's Sapphire 6870 is at 74C on load using auto fan speed after the update.
