Hey guys, is it worth it getting the Captivate? Since I see one seller in Garage Sale selling for RM1550. These two are the same in term of hardware (well of course, its a Galaxy S phone laugh.gif) but I'm not sure on the software side. Any comment on this?

Nope, it's a full rom, including kernel, and he stated that he included hardcore's H1-250Hz kernel, so you just have to flash the rom from CWM and you're good to go.

If you want a different kernel later, just flash from Odin. You don't need to wipe or restore.

I assume that I'll just need to flash the kernel as the pda in Odin, without partition and any other things right?

I somehow saw it in Doc's site, it says to upgrade the kernel in recovery? whats that?

There shouldn't be any problem to leave those cards in there.

Yup, in Odin, PDA only without anything else.
Upgrade kernel in recovery? I don't see that. blink.gif

I've tried the recovery method but my cwm freezes when installing kernel. The safest way is to unzip the file and flash the tar file via Odin

Here you go:

Alternative Kernels:
Install from recovery, disable all lagfixes first

Hardcore SpeedMod Froyo kernel-vH1250hzLink
Download
Sztupy .3 kernel Link
Download
Raspdeep 1.1 OC kernel (note, this is overclocked to 1.2GHz) Link
Download
Zenkinz 19 oc kernel (note, this is overclocked to 1.2GHz) Link
Download

Its stated in the second post of the Doc's thread.

Anyway, just to reconfirm and final confirm, if I want to change to another kernel while I am on DOC'S v7.6.1, I just connect to Odin and flash my preferred kernel as PDA. Right?

I see. Thanks for the info. I think the hardcore kernel is sucking too much battery. Would like to try some other kernel and see how it goes. Last question,
do we need to disable all lagfix before flashing to another kernel?

yes, i never use hardcore kernel. after flashing doc's rom (7.6 is the latest).. then i change the kernel.. imho, ya-ok (v23) and super optimized (v3.6) kernels are the best.. but i chose ya-ok.. make sure u use setcpu and set to conservative and your sgs flieesssss... without wing biggrin.gif

my 2 cent

*edit: you can disable lagfix using the ULK option in the CWM. you can see 'disable lagfix' feature there

If you want to type in Malay, you should change the dictionary to Malay.

Otherwise, type out the word "saya" manually, instead of swiping.

Everything works smoothly, BUT i am still stuck with the kernel attached in Doc's 7.6.1

I am quite hesitate to flash the kernel coz I have just restored all my apps 100++ rclxub.gif

I am afraid that flashing kernel will lead me to another restore for about 1 hr doh.gif

Will flashing kernel alone wipe all my datas and apps? rclxub.gif

@Frankgan, I never flash kernel from recovery. Just flash .tar files in Odin. No it wont wipe your apps. Just flash the one you want.

Does ya-ok kernel provides good battery life?

My major concern is not about speed as the original kernel in doc's v7.6 is already providing my sgs with wings,
just that it is not long- lasting enough.

Any good performing kernel with good battery life? rclxub.gif
