watching anime/movies on SGS
got my first smartphone, the SGS! i am not a very technical guy so can't do all the detail testing.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

tested video's that run smoothly:

AVI - 704x396 , bit rate 174kbps, data rate 46kbps. 23 frames/second.
- subtitles in the correct place & readable.

MKV - 1280x720, bit rate 1051kbps, data rate ??, 24 frames/second
- this one will lag when ONLY fast forwarding/back.
- if using RockPlayer, its even worse, speech & video doesn not match at times, and expect some funny pixelation.
- subtitles in the correct place & readable.

AVI - 720x576, bit rate 174kbps, data rate 46kbps. 23 frames/second.

MKV - 720x400 , bit rate 174kbps, data rate 46kbps. 24 frames/second.
- default & rockplayer play smoothly, fast forwarding & back no problem.
- not sure how to get subtitle to function & or change language using both players.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

using MicroSD class 4,
using default SGS video player & rockplayer.

- beautiful screen! with 4.0" watching movies feels good.
- the video looks gorgeous especially when playing 720p.
- need some options able to tweak subtitles or audio language.

Running base JPM with rasdeep OC and UV kernel. Using conservative governor and CPU fluctuates between 100 and 1200Mhz (100-800 Undervolt 0.50, > 800 Undervolt 0.25)...Quadrant with ULF Ext 4 ~1756...So far so good. Monitoring the battery now.

Added on October 30, 2010, 2:35 pm
What ROM are you on now? I believe you need 2e to flash unsigned zip files.

I saw you asked the question in XDA...please flash any one of the ULF kernel with CWM...they have 2e integrated which you can select in recovery mode.
*
flash to other kernel = data all will be wipe out?

QUOTE(silentser @ Oct 30 2010, 06:42 PM)
2 ways, 1. revert your recovery to 2e again

2. unpack that zip and paste that framework directly to system/framework using root explorer
*
ya,i am lazy to do that way but no choice then

Try MP4/AV - 1280 x 720, bitrate 1500 - 2000, Audio at 192kps. 30 frames/second.

You will find the videos will turn out much better smile.gif

But only use videos that has higher bit rate than the above spec. Otherwise everything will be just the same. I am using MKV formats with 1080p to convert.
but after conversion, 1 movie is about 1.2 - 1.3 GB doh.gif Haha.. you have to sacrifice some space if you want quality..

Don't think so. Who'd want to support a bloated and slow runtime environment? Java applets are a curse and there's good reason why it didn't take off. =)

Not normal. Try to clear RAM at full charge and test again. For better batt life solution, refer to post 1.

Go to task manager, clik on the RAM tab, and clik Level 1 RAM, clear RAM. You can click Level 2 as well if you like.
Or you can just restart you phone at full charge.
