What does swt mean?

Yeah that's why I'm waiting for them to stop lying, fix that, and if the price remains the same I'll buy it then - oh wait no AMD GPUs will be out then with Sandy Bridge.

Don't Buy XPS!

Word. And the keypad too?

but in the XPS 15 there's an option for DELL backlit keyboard. would it be the same as the Studio XPS backlit KB? or just a XPS keyboard with backlighting??

Surprised why everyone is so in awe of JBL. It might be just another useless add-on because JBL subwoofer speakers in a similar sized laptop have not impressed me at all. Once again the speakers are tiny and they just made the grille big.

OS Media kit is now charged everywhere (5 pounds in UK, 5 dollars in Aus etc) and even tho I have 3 Dell PCs, one just bought recently, they won't give me one. Zzz

Don't Buy XPS!

I think what the JBL subwoofer do is to make the sound louder and clearer, definitely not the "boom" "boom" "boom" like in normal subwoofer.

LOL? We don't know how soft/loud it is yet. And website reviews mostly cannot be trusted because they are biased most of the time - lauding the products like some god given notebook/handheld.

But if I'm right about JBL subwoofer, even RM30 earphones will be sufficient - the quality is not so bad with "enhancement" software, but it's still bad, and the volume is soft unless you got some loud MP3 or game like I said.

a good effort by dell indeed, waiting for a counterattack by asus and acer. they wont sit still for sure. IMHO, more models will be released prior to christmas, let see how they'll react...

Asus already has similar stuff a few weeks ago...

N43Jq and N53Jq, 740QM, GT 425M, rm3999...

rm500 gets u better design (imho), Bang & Olusfen Audio, and 2yrs warranty...

at rm3599 there's Asus A42Ja, 740QM + HD5730...

Acer already has got Aspire TimelineX 4820TG at the lower price range (rm2599), 460M + HD5650 + long battery life... at the same time, there is Lenovo Y460 at rm2999 with 460M and GT 425M...

honestly, with the hardware bundled together, it's not easy for XPS to distinguish itself...

I will go for Studio XPS 16.

XPS 14 and 15 design seem suck for me,just my personal opinion smile.gif.

In term of spec, they are almost the same. GT435 with 2GB ram and ATI5730 with 1GB ram are almost the same.

Thanks for the suggestion mimi, I do like Studio XPS 16 design more too.. I'm not good with all these hardware stuff so when I saw the GT435 with 2GB ram and ATI5730 with 1GB ram in comparison I thought that 2GB > 1GB automatically lol.

If they are indeed almost the same I should really consider the Studio XPS 16 now too... hmmm.

Does it have international warranty tho?

You need to upgrade the warranty to 3 years to be international..

Well I think i5 is better than i7 quad overall, and Dell still hasn't let up about the GT 435M. We can be certain GT 435M will be much, much hotter than HD 5730.

Radeon HD 6000s are being launched, so hopefully we will see the Mobile version of the successor of 5730/5830.

Now if there were SXPS 16 parts and touch panel built into XPS 15 body, that would be awesome.

i5 for gaming certainly is but id rather much prefer an i7 for my use. It states that the i5 dosent support the 2mb of gt435 if thats the case then u wont be able to get an i5 with a gt435. but like u said hd6000s are launching so hopefully they have something on par with the gt435 that supports i5. then again the question is will they use AMD gpu's for intel processors and are u willing to wait smile.gif

I have waited >2 months already with no laptop, I miss having one all to myself tongue.gif

If it's a good product I will wait, I really preferred to buy at this time, around November, but others have very limited warranty I cannot trust (after what happened with my last few laptops I am really cautious now).

They have AMD fusion and other things coming out, but people give really bad comments about AMD CPUs.

I believe i5 is compatible with 2GB VRAM since other laptops are sold with those specs. It's just Dell being Dell. It will be hard for me to accept buying a hot Nvidia GPU, but buying it with i7? I will never repeat that mistake.

Bad news is Sandy Bridge products all have quite high TDPs. It's like Intel and Nvidia are competing, who can make the hottest product with the worst relative performance.
