sony's body with built in stabilisation..

so whatever lens you put in sony body can have IS...

so all the lenses you buy won't have VR/IS = cheaper lenses... smile.gif

but in NEX bodies then don't have built in VR/IS...the VR may help..that one not sure... hmm.gif

normal alpha body got built in SSS (Super Steady Shot)... tat's the reason why the lenses do not hv stabilizer....

for NEX it uses OSS (Optical Steady Shot) in the lens.... hence not stabilizer on the camera body....

if u mount VR/IS lense on NEX it won't gif u the stabilizing effect.....

Sony lenses do not have VR because Sony's stabilization's is on the sensor. This means all lenses that is detectable and recognized (read all Sony and most Minolta lenses plus all third party Alpha mount lenses) by the Alpha body is stabilized at no extra cost.

I do not think the VR on Nikon lenses can work if attached to the NEX via and adapter. I'm not sure on this but I think it will not work as the lens cannot communicate with the camera.

No. You just need to be careful a little and not let the shutter speed drop too low. Having steady hands also helps. Most PnS cameras have no IS/VR/OSS but people can still take great pics.

wingster: Wah very hard to figure out what #1 is even though you already said it is syrup. Nice #2!

evanttc: You want "adding point" lenses? The Sony Carl Zeiss and Sony G lenses have the best optical quality. On average, they focus closer than the Nikon/Canon counterparts. The Sony 50mm F1.8 DT SAM for example will focus to 34cm close while the Nikkor 50mm F1.8 AF-D will only focus to 45cm close. The Nikkor 50mm does not have VR, but the Sony A55 will have stabilization on the body.

By the way, it is only Malaysia who is so backwards where it comes to knowledge of cameras. You step into a second-hand shop in Singapore, and you'll see loads of Minolta SR/MD, Canon FD, M42, and Minolta AF/Sony mount lenses, and plenty of Mamiya 6x7 bodies.

If you are aiming for the NEX bodies though, bear in mind that the NEX bodies do not have in-body stabilization. The Sony E 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 Optical SteadyShot however comes with OSS, and so does the Sony E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 Active Optical SteadyShot.

For adapted lenses, if you get the third party Nikon G adapter, there are no contacts on it, so no way for the NEX body to power the VR mechanism.

Sigma makes lenses with OS (Optical Stabilization) in A-mount. So you can use that with the Sony LA-EA1 Alpha-mount to E-mount adapter - it has the necessary contacts and OS will work.

Cacti: We recommend a tripod. It is going to be heavy!

destfull: Love #2!
