I already tried with changing RAM still no avail doh.gif

It hangs then black screen, restart cannot Post edy

Is it possible of mobo faulty or processor faulty?

if chip faulty u cant get d system booted at all (fan will still be spinnin but no display), just like my dead sempy... nod.gif

just received d new chip... older batch if compared to d dead chip, hopefully d disabled core can be unlocked & clocked much better... biggrin.gif

temperature apart, it's never easy to run a thuban @ that kind clock 3d stable, cpu test of 06 is kinda sensitive to cpu stability from what i noticed.  hmm.gif

btw, if i was to choose, i'd prefer to stay in Canada instead of the States.  nod.gif

Yeah 06 stresses the cpu pretty hard. I can probably do 4500MHz with a bit more voltage.
Canada is better living standard wise than the states, but LN2 and dry ice is expensive here sad.gif

hello sifus, i am having some problems with my 5200+ Brisbane...

the heatsink is a Scythe Shuriken, and the tim used was OCZ Freeze... i changed to Arctic MX2 lately and it's still giving me the same problem...

i ve oc-ed it slightly to 2.9GHz, but 1 of the core is shooting way above 100C whenever it's on full load...

on idle both cores hover around 43C-45C, but once i run folding@home, the max i ve attained was 88C on Core 0 and 110C on Core 1...

i ve cleaned and reapplied tim several times but it's still giving me the same problem... i ve already ran out of reasons y it's behaving in such a way... hope someone can enlighten me... icon_question.gif

It seems like faulty mobo to me, if u already try different cpu & ram still it persist confirm mobo fault.. sweat.gif
Still under warranty kah? hmm.gif I forgot already but is it a DDR2 mobo or DDR3 mobo meh? If DDr2, if u need a cpu i got an old X2 3600+ that u can try if u want.. hmm.gif
BTW have u try other SATA & IDE cables too? Maybe just cable fault, hopefully ah..

Yup agree with ah_khoo, its kinda hard to kill a cpu lah nowadays, except if its at the hand of uzer85, kunta & our resident unker whistling.gif laugh.gif
Ooooo got a replacement sempy alredy meh? So fast shocking.gif

Wah cable fault also can hang/bsod meh?

It is DDR3 anyway,i will try other CPU first and try changing the cable and i'll tell u the results.
But why the mobo become faulty anyway? doh.gif

It was working fine, out of blue it gg - -..

CPU replacement from AMD is fast smile.gif

Mine take 2 weeks only biggrin.gif

checked again and again that heatsink is locked and secured...

voltage wise i never fiddle with it... juz purely raising the bus speed to 220MHz...

anyway, think i should ve done this earlier...

CPU - Athlon x2 5200+ Brisbane (oc @ 2.9GHz)
Mobo - Biostar TA790GX XE
GPU - Sapphire Radeon HD4670 1GB GDDR3
RAM - Kingstom KVR DDR2 800MHz CL5 1GB x2
Heatsink - Scythe Shuriken Rev B
TIM - Arctic MX2
PSU - CM Extreme Power Plus 460W
Chasis - CM Elite 470

Oh brisbane..the old days.It is known for sensor problem.Try to touch the heatsink when the temperature is high and see if it is really hot as reported.
If it is not hot as reported by the sensor, then you have nothing to worry. If it auto-shutdown,turn the feature off at BIOS.

woot... looks like u got a silver (if not golden) chip there. 4.5GHz 3d benchable is superb... drool.gif

if breakin world record is not needed, u just need winter/autumn season to churn out decent results. tongue.gif

rule of thumb when oc a brisby... use "hand job" instead of puttin 100% trust on sw readin as brisby was known for havin spoil its (integrated thermal sensor). try to load d chip @ stock clock w/ stock volt, then open up ya case then place ya finger (d one w thickest skin) & feel d heatsink. if it's cool or slightly warm, i reckon still acceptable. but if it's scorchingly hot, then something wrong w/ d mountin or... ya chip kene dengue. tongue.gif

I 4got to check d serial no of d dead sempy... who knows it sacrificed itselt just to let me strike toto ke? This is 2nd amd chips killed under my hands. D 1st one was a poor t-bred 2600+ (correct me if i'm wrong bout d code name) which lost its live bcoz of cracked die.

thanks for the heads up, i let it ran Folding@Home for the past 2 hrs@ default settings and surprisingly the max temp on HWMonitor is only 66C for Core 0 and 71C for Core 1...

opened up to touch it... it's slightly warm, i can put my finger on the heatsink for a long period...

i am not sure if i really want to keep it at oc settings.. hmm.gif
